Northern hemisphere summer is southern hemisphere winter. This is because the north end of Earth's axis points toward the sun in northern hemisphere summer (that part of the earth gets more solar radiation, so it's warmer) and away from it in the winter. The opposite happens, at the same time, with the south end of the axis.

yea, what Zoo Newt said.
right now, in athens,(and all of europe) the USA, canada, russia, mexico, /anything north of the equator it is late summer.
south of the equator, austrailia (sp?) antartica, the numerouse insundry nations of africa, brazil, and the numerous insundry nations of south america, are in early spring/late winter.
as for school and vacations, thats so freakishly random, it hurts. i started back at colege the 25th, but i know a lot of places have not started yet here in the states, and i know some started way before that.
(off topic) Zoo Newt, what is that interesting animal in your avatar?

Haha, what summer vacation? I was at school all summer (organic chem 2 (yuck!) and lab). I started back Monday (23rd). But yeah, summer is (officially) mid-June through mid-September, except here in Florida where it's mid-February to mid-October and school (non-college) is out from mid-May through beginning of August.

On that note, I can see summer coming
We only seemed to have about one month of rain this winter, we've been on water restrictions for about eight months now, even in winter....
We could have given you guys in Oz some water a few months back... we just had too much!
^^ Thanks Ayumi, you rock!! ^^
