If the US could adopt one similar to this then I think it could keep *most* happy.

2. Regulus, I still think you're crazy worrying about the reversal of spheres. (In his "future" blacks will enslave whites and gays will shun straight people.) If you're afraid of the human race going extinct because we all turn gay... will you be my lover?

3. Just about everything we do is pointless... throw that arguement out the window.
4. There are a lot more gay or bi people that you might think. The reason you don't see so many is because they are all afraid of persecution. I've heard stories of people being killed because they were gay (right here in America... a kid, too). I don't want to live in a county that does these things.
5. The bible also says tons of nasty stuff. I'll grab up some quotes later.
6. Base and Leftyy, no more talking about the elections. Let's stay on track. (We all know how poor the electoral college is. It wouldn't even let me with my 2064 on the new SAT's)

ok, lame jokes aside....I'm not sticking up for gays, but I'm not putting them down either. I think being gay is disgusting, but I also do believe them when they say it's not their fault. It's like taste buds, why do you think people like and dislike different foods? and sometimes you won't like a particular food when you're young, but then when youre older, you like that food? Their taste buds are all different and they were born like that, or have somehow changed as the person matured. I think it's the same with someone's sexuality.
Christians who try to push their religion onto other people are worse tho. Mobster, using the bible is a bad way to prove a point. Especially with people (like me) who DO NOT believe in God or any of that garbage

Any argument which relies on it being considered 'wrong' or 'against the bible' or anything of the sort is pretty stupid. Americans are supposed to have the freedom to believe what they want. If I don't believe in Christianity, then why should I care what the Bible says in any case?
While Reg's answer works from one perspective, we're far more likely to die out from overpopulation than from underpopulation. China has their 'one child policy' in place in order to limit how much their population is rising, and they're still in some pretty major trouble. India is trying a less drastic approach of providing more sex education and prevention to the citizens, but with such a huge population they really don't have enough funds to do an adequate job. From that perspective, anything which is going to stop some people have children is actually quite welcome. By not having children of their own, they raise the quality of life for everyone else. Much more Selfless than it is Selfish, seen from that angle.
It is true, they can't have children of their own. Somebody pointed out that they can adopt. I think that's great. Do you have any idea how much of the world's population is leaving in poor conditions, can't support themselves, and so forth? Not even just in third-world countries, there are a lot of homeless even in the 'lucky' countries. If two gay or lesbian people decide to give some poor child a second chance at life, how is that selfish? Not only are they not adding to the population explosion, they're helping out children that otherwise will never stand a chance in life.
I don't know many homosexuals, and probably still carry prejudices against them, because they're deeply ingrained in our society. I'd imagine that is quite normal for quite a lot of other people out there in the world. Lets say hypothetically (and apparently quite correctly) that we have little to no choice in our sexual preference. So people can't help being or not being gay. However the same certainly can't be said of our attitudes, we certainly have control over how we want to treat these people. Shunning them seems no different to religious persecution to me. Letting them do what they want does nobody any harm in the slightest, the sooner people learn to accept that the better.

Rofl! Have you even read the bible? Murder, rape, sexism, racism, slavery, child abuse, and many other horrible things are PROMOTED by your bible.
