I like this, it really gives a few good aspects to the clan. It shows, to some degree, a lot of members that really contribute to the community, and know how to get everyone having fun. This could even work as somewhat of a moderator-preview kind of thing.

Do you have to have a garden to have 1?
Not required, although in order to be a SeeD you should have one.

Seeing as how this is based on FFVIII, I'm guessing the rank will go as high as 30, then to "A." Correct?
We'll probably just have the number keep going up, hehe.
Although I don't think 30 can realistically be attained anytime soon, lol
We'll see though, maybe we'll come up with a maximum rank later on.
Perhaps we'll just have a point at which it will be really hard to advance any further. Can't have ranks going up too high or it would seem odd, but instead of just stopping at a rank we can make following ranks even bigger achievements.

My rank seems to have gone up since my last post. Evaluation - Coolio!
It went up before the post when I said the ranks were given

That's basically what this is, but with a purpose of sorts and not capped at five.
Their old system (when you could see everyone's rating, not just your own -- their current rating system is just the default IPB warning system) had a purpose similar to SeeD Ranks, except that RSC wasn't a clan. And it wasn't capped at five, either... a rare few (like Jack) had a 6 rating. (Incidently, I was a 3.)
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

So, are there any forum rewards for these? Perhaps, I dunno, at...10 or something, a modded forum (you know, those hosted forums at the bottom...something to work towards). Just a though.

Not sure, not hosted forums though. Looking a bit of time in advance, if SeeDs go after these ranks, hosted forums would become quite common. If too many get them not only would the board index get kinda long (don't want to have to make them sub forums unless absolutely necessary), but it would become a burden in ways. Plus the fact that they would have to get pretty specific and would likely start overlapping things we already have. The only way to really manage the number of hosted forums is to only offer them as contest rewards and whatnot, something as open-ended as this could eventually get out of hand.
If one wants a hosted forum, just check the Event Forum frequently. Sadly, lol, we had two contests rewarding hosted forums and we received basically no entries for either. They're out there now and then... just have to look for the contests.
Since SeeD is the basis for these ranks (to non-SeeDs it is just a prestige number right now), the rewards are intended to mostly revolve around SeeD. This is also potentially yet another way for members to attain loose leadership positions of sorts and be recognized for what they do. That's the main purpose of these ranks.

Seems like a great idea to me, a way to focus on the positives that people do instead of the negatives, as the warning system does.
I think it would make good sense to combine it with Emblems. Scrap emblems, change the honor society so that it's based on reaching a certain rank, and maybe mention that those that are constantly stopping scammers might be good candidates for rank promotion.
The two systems would combine fairly easily, and as it is now Emblems aren't really used much. It would be a little unfair on those that have amassed lots of emblems, then again those that earn emblems are exactly the kind of people that are likely to go up in rank quickly.
