ok recently i was watching a movie about Al Capone and decided to do some research on Organized crime. Apparently the Mafia is still around but has learned from its mistakes and is running itself in secrecy.
I just wanted to know your views. Should the U.S. government start attacking the Mafia again? or do you think the Mafia should be aloud to continue running casino's all over the U.S.
just a thought...

Essentially, I've never really had views on this, but the organized crime groups are just bad. I don't think it's so horrible that the government needs to go on a manhunt for them, however, if anything comes up with them, they really need to treat it with high priority. Also, this might be a bit better in the Debate Forum

QUOTE(Sproogle)
All criminals should be put before a firing squad, because they are unfit to live in our society.
I'm a strong supporter of capital punishment, but to say that ALL criminals should be executed? I believe in executing murderers and rapists, but to use a generalization like that is a bit extreme.
Yeah, members of the mafia should be brought to justice for their crimes. Whether their crime is "organized" or not should not affect the need to sentence them appropriately.

I'm sure that the police, FBI, etc. have got it handled. If the mafia is being secretive, then why should people trying to hunt them down make such a huge deal about it?
If people like us talk about it enough, and it becomes a huge issue, grabbing media attention, then the government would have to overplay its hand, just to appease the American people (otherwise, there would be an enormous backlash because people would think that our law enforcement agencies are doing nothing about it). After all, the media has a certain knack for "making mountains out of molehills". The fact that our culture is fascinated by gangsters, criminals, and the mafia doesn't help much either.
So the bottom line is: Unless the mafia reemerges as a big problem, there is no need to make it seem like a big problem.

I think that when he said "All criminals should be killed, because they are unfit for are society", he meant that criminals like Grand Theft Auto, murder, bank robery, etc. And, I think he was sort of kiding.
I think that criminals like Grand Theft Auto, burglary, bank robery, etc. should be giving a warning, and if they commit those crimes again, we give them long-term sentences. Or life in prison. For murder of the first degree, we give death no matter what.

At the moment I'm not a supporting for killing criminals, even the murderers/rapists, since it's better for them to stay alive and think about what they've done instead of dieing "a monster" so to speak.
