Gone for a while

Well, my dad, after a long series of neglecting to go to the doctor's, devolped some spinal problems, I'm not too sure about to details, because my parents keep almost everything to themselves, but one of the bones in the spinal cord was fragmented away from the linking bone, so his spine is almost being cracked in two, and then lower on his back, on bone almost is completely shattered.
What they're tring to not tell me, but everyone else in the world is, there's a pretty high chance that he won't live to get off the operating room, so prepare for the worse, but to make it worse, I'm jugling being happy about my field trip tommorow and his surgery >_< . Anyways, because of the surgery, and my later pleas for him to take physical theraphy (he's pretty much refusing to now, but I'll have to see), then I'll have to take care of him for the most part once he's able to come home, and then get him used to everything, so that's gonna take about a week I'd guess, that I'll not be on, and depending on what happens, it might be later.
So in short, wish me, my dad, and the rest of our family luck.

An amazing thing, my dad was in close to the same condition a few years back. He had messed something up when he was a teenager and never got it checked out. Finally, his spinal nerve began to be pinched by the vertebrae and hurting his leg. He went to the doctors office, and the bottom 4 vertebrae were holding on by a thread. The doctor said that if he had waited a month, his spine would have been severed on its own volition.
So he went for surgery and got screws and two plates put in to reconnect his spine. Went fine, but he was immobilized for about 3 months.
Well, two years later, he's sitting on a couch and he says he felt a massive snap where his surgery was. They went back to the doctor and found his screws had bent and broken in half, and his spine was in worse shape than it was previously. So after an emergency surgery, he was immobilized for around another 4 to four months and hasn't had any problems since.
Your dad might be down for a while, but he should be ok. Don't stress it. Trust someone who's gone through it.

Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.

Yeah, that's what happened to my dad. He had to wear a back brace for a good half a year afterwards. No walker, though, but his lack of moving made up for that.
I can't speak for my dad, but from how he appears now he looks to be good. I can only imagine your dad will do the same.
My dad told me tonight "You can either give up and walk around like an old geezer for the rest of your life, of you can take the pain that comes with walking and keep on living how you want."
