Ayrton is possibly the best thing to have ever been created. And by Ayrton, I mean the band, not the thing/it/pokemon. So check out Ayrton at - there's even a video of one of our (crap as) songs we played at the St. Alban's College Rockfest. We sound way better than what the video might suggest, although Bill did make a crapload of mistakes... in the introduction. :P

And yes, I'm a terrible advertiser for Bebo. That's all I seem to be doing as of late which is quite scary. I've been on Bebo several times this week which is actually scary since I usually only go on once or twice every three weeks. Oh well, I guess I could break the trend every now and then. :P

It's scary but I've also had terrible blogging spells. Usually I'd try to blog once a night but I seem to keep forgetting about it and it's frustrating. So I'll start from where I last was.

Yesterday was sooo bad. I woke up at 4.20am (surprise surprise!) and couldn't stop coughing and it was quite annoying. So I just continued reading Night Watch (so awesome) and waited for mum to wake up at like 6.30am. I felt like crap but decided I'd go to school anyway since I really needed to go because it'd be my last Maths lesson before the Maths exam (Stowers decided to give us another mock exam on Monday to prepare us and see how we'd do... he told me to worry which was funny) but I wasn't too sure if I'd last the whole day. And sure enough, during English which was first period I felt like dying because I couldn't stop coughing for the first bit of it. Thankfully it stopped but then it started up again and at one point I coughed up this nasty yellow-green goober and Sam just looked at me and said "... nice." :P

Spanish wasn't any better, my headache started coming back (despite having taken 2 panadols at like 8am - Spanish starts at 10am on Fridays) and I couldn't concentrate and felt so knackered. I was pretty much out of it for most of the period and after that (after socializing during interval of course) I just called it quits and went to the sick bay to sign out then went home. I wouldn't have lasted another class which just so happened to be Maths. I'm pretty annoyed I couldn't endure it enough to go to Maths but then again I hate feeling like crap during school. And I wouldn't have missed much anyway, maybe just the odd comment from Stowers every now and then. :P

But GRR. Everything seems to happen at the worst of times! Callum wanted to go see Eagle vs. Shark afterschool but I couldn't since I was too sick and went home early, and then Carl invited me to some rounds at Netcafix with him and Peter and that made me feel even more miserable, since I owe Carl and Peter some Netcafix hours. I'd have played with them over the holidays but I was in darn Argentina so I couldn't which was irritating. :sure:

I had my first day back at work today!! It wasn't that exciting, to be honest, I'm over work. The time went by SO slowly it was insane. It's because for some reason there were like hardly any customers at all between 4-6pm which was insane. As soon as I got to work, once Nikki and Naomi saw me they were like "JONNY!!!" and ran out to hug me which was quite embarrassing and Cheryl was trying not to laugh, as were some customers and other operators. And we got heaps of new people which is nice, but kinda scary. I'm sure one of the new girls thinks I'm a gumby since I was trying to explain something but ended up saying the opposite then correcting myself then contradicting my correction somehow, then ended up asking Ashleigh to help me out. Oh and then I walked into a checkout. Yeah. I have a bad habit of walking into things right now.

According to Sarah, checkouts started to crumble and eventually caved in while I was away. She was pretty glad to see me back and was like "things'll actually get done now" since apparently she's had to get up other supervisors' backs about their work and stuff since everything's gone slack and/or not done properly. And now our assistant manager for checkouts has just resigned so we'll have no assistant manager for over the Christmas holidays period unless we managed to find and hire someone and train them in like a week or two which is impossible. We had enough trouble filling the position in the first place and now that we have to do it again, it's insane. *sigh* No leisure time over the holidays I guess, I won't be surprised if I happen to be doing plenty of day/night sup shifts. :sure:

That reminds me, I managed to finish Night Watch this morning before going to music classes. It's really good, different from the movie of course. Heaps of new things and a lot of the stories vaguely link in with the movie. I'd say some but that'd be spoiling and spoilers are bad. :P

Speaking of watches, mum went to get all our watches fixed today. I had two watches which needed fixing but she only got one fixed, since the watchmender examined my other one and said it was fine since apparently the hand moved in the store, but the watch hasn't been working for more than a year now, close to two. And it was my favourite too. Oh well. The one she did get fixed... has a new strap. The strap has rings in it. Like, metal circles with nothing in the centre so you can see through them. It's weird and reminds me of those wristbands with the studs in them, and it feels odd and sometimes hurts. I'll wear it despite all that, since it'll fit my emo outfit. OMG. I'm gonna wear my whole emo set on Friday since I think we've got a mufti day then (according to the school diary) but don't quote me, I don't want another repeat of the Ethan Duff episode. Seriously. :X

My Blue Heaven

Posted by JGJTan  Icon, 25 July 2007 - 11:20 AM

So I've had a TERRIBLE day today. I thought things were going nicely and it seemed like it was... I should have noticed something odd during lunch! Everything seemed... not right. It was gonna be a great day... but then... while play-fighting with Carl I hit his eye. I went MENTAL and I think I got a bit too over-worried as he put it, although it was really scary! So things started to go downhill from there. :(

The physics tutorial I went to today (had to start work later) was meant to be about an exam we won't be studying for in class... but it turned out to be revision on a topic we all knew so everyone was just basically sleeping for the whole period. Me and Sean Jones ended up talking for a while so that was quite a nice change, haven't really talked to him much and I thought I'd do a nice thing and talk to him since he likes the corner and being all alone which is quite silly. I've been doing a bit of comforting recently anyway, Blair was going all emo on me today and not even Carl could cheer him up as much so Carl just went off after a bit so I stuck around and eventually got Blair a bit more brighter by just talking to him and cracking several lame (and dirty) jokes. :P

The Orbiter (bus I catch) was half an hour late! That got me real mad since it was freakin' freezing outside so I just sat talking to Sean again since it turns out he was gonna catch the bus too but ended up catching the City one since the Orbiter was late. But I did meet Harriet on the bus again which was amazing so I guess that was a good thing among all the bad. We had a nice random conversation about people and stuff which was pretty cool. Got home and just sat around thinking about homework...

Then I realized that Kym was supervising in my stead until I got to work so I majorly rushed to work and got there at like 6.40pm. I knew I was in trouble when I thought about Kym's supervising talent... and sure enough, there were trolleys all over the carpark, an operator was missing-in-action and there was a pile of returns at the customer service desk. I had to quickly clean up the mess and I found the missing operator (Shawn had taken Emma to do some grocery work which I got annoyed at). I ended up having a little fight with Shawn since I wasn't in a good mood and neither was he since tomorrow we got the chief inspector coming in to look at the store. Got REALLY annoyed when he said he found it irritating for me to have 2 checkout operators doing nothing and I told him that I had other people doing jobs and they were keeping an eye out for customers since I don't want to have to make customers wait all the time for me to call them back to the checkouts. It's all about customer service and if we look bad and don't do our job, we get in trouble. :sure:

But it turns out that Shawn was just grumpy because Kym was supervising before (aside from the inspector tomorrow) so after about half an hour he was all good so that wasn't too bad. :)

But the reason for the title today... I got asked a really interesting question by Carl and I thought it was worth blogging about.

"Of these two choices, which would you pick? For you to be happy yet everyone else around you sad, or for everyone around you to be happy yet you're sad?"

I chose the latter without question. Although I found it quite interesting because another of my friends replied with a "what the hell Jonny? I'd rather be happy" and it just lit up a thought inside my head. In a way, it depends on a person's outlook on life and personality as to what choice you make. For me, I'd rather see everyone around me be happy. That's why I always go out of my way to do whatever I can for someone to make them happy, even if it hurts me or puts me under a great deal of stress. I can't stand seeing people around me upset and I always have a sudden urge to fix the problem, it's just unnatural for someone to be so down. That's why I would rather sacrifice my joy and trade it for sadness, just to see everyone happy. I would die for my friends if they were dying and I had the choice to save them at the cost of my own life. :)

Cameron: Thank god he's extended our Socrates essay for 3 weeks.
Carl: Now we can put it off for another 3 weeks!

The Hours That Remain

Posted by JGJTan  Icon, 16 July 2007 - 11:08 AM

... until school starts. YAY!! And NO!! :(

I haven't seen everyone in AGES which sucks to the max. AND THE SMELL OMG. Anyway, it'll be really awesome to see everyone although I'm probably one of the few people, if not the only one, who is excited about going back to school. Although it'll suck because I still haven't done my homework!! But I still have tomorrow to actually get my Maths homework done which won't happen since I have too much to catch up on. :P

I'm also wondering whether I should buy a school scarf or not. I'd be wearing it funny though, I never knew scarves were worn a certain way! I just thought you wrapped them around your neck so it looked good and stuff. But these scarves are red and black, not fully black which kinda sucks, dunno if it'll look as good. :(

Oh and I've researched a tiny bit for Music so if Mr. Botting asks me, I can explain to him how the music of John Williams uses something called a leitmotif (sp?) which is a repeating theme or motif in the music which emphasizes a point, notion or idea, e.g. The Imperial March. And I can just rattle on about film music which I learnt about in Year 10. So I should be sweet with all that. :D

But umm. Yeah. I'll avoid Mr. Hassall and I'm gonna be so screwed if he asks me a question about Socrates during class tomorrow. He'll be so disappointed in me... I can just imagine what he'll say to me.

"Oh Jonathan, no no no. My mind is unable to bear the thought of you not knowing the answer. Please, please tell me this is all in my mind and you actually know the answer."

Work today was so insane. It was real quiet at night but in the afternoon between 4-6pm it was hectic. We were down 2 people between that time but it wasn't mad busy, just frustrating busy. Like, there'd be a customer at each checkout and there'd always be one to replace the other. It didn't help that Naomi managed to explode a coke bottle over her checkout which rocketed to the wall and sprayed coke everywhere, leaving a mess underneath one of the checkouts which was impossible to clean. And then when I was about to close up, there were 2 evil stupid customers at about 9.55pm. One guy got a few items but couldn't pay for them and ended up buying just the milk with coins so it got irritating, then this other lady wandered around like she had all the time in the world. She ended up leaving the store at 10.10pm because she forgot a few things and had trouble deciding what chocolate to get and I was soooo annoyed. :sure:

And mum's nagging me to sleep now so I'm gonna go peeps. And not be able to sleep because I'll be so excited about school!! Night night! :D

Mr. Botting: Mr. Leach isn't worried because he can't worry. It's from all the weed he smoked back in the 60's.

Year Nine, Yeah!

Posted by JGJTan  Icon, 05 July 2007 - 03:25 PM

So I'm feeling REALLY great today! Although a bit on the bored side due to it being the holidays (procrastination is my friend!), everything's been pretty good! :D

I've had braces since like the end of Year 9 which has been ages! My teeth were pretty messed up back then, I could actually grin with my mouth closed and my fangs would stick out like I'd been born a vampire, serious. Mum and I went to all the dentists around and they just said they'd have to remove my incisors which I didn't want and mum refused to have permanent teeth extracted. So we finally landed at Tomorrow's Dentistry Today (advertising, woo!) and Ron Ritchie is a real nice fellow from Canada. He had a look at my teeth and said he'd never seen anything quite so extreme in his life (the size of my jaw despite having a "big mouth" and the alignment of my teeth) but said it would be possible if he extracted my back molars. Only problem was the procedure could take ages, by having a plate to expand my jaw to make room for the teeth to move, then having braces to align the teeth and put them into place. Seriously, I had pretty f-d up teeth. I had a plate from Year 8-9 then braces from 9/10 to now which is like halfway through Year 12, that's how difficult my teeth like to be.

BUT NOW!! I went to the dentist today for my monthly checkup (haha... joke all you like, it's true!) and he had a real good look. I swear he just stared at my teeth for about a minute. My teeth were pretty bad last time since one of the brackets began to irritate the inside of my mouth and the rubber bands (we moved onto the super strong ones since my teeth weren't doing anything with the standard ones... TWO super strong ones per side after one month) kept coming off on one side due to them being crappy. And now the extra wire to hold the rubber bands had come loose and just stuck up so whenever I moved my tongue or mouth it'd scrape and HURT like HELL. So he had a good look and then was like "I'm just gonna give a quick polish and then *mutter mutter* *smile*" and I was like "... uhh?" and he was like "We're going to have your braces removed, buddy!" and I could have screamed with joy! Well, in all honesty I sighed and yelled with joy. But still, I could have screamed! The assistants were all like "Woo Jonny's finally getting his braces off!!" since I'd been with them for YONKS and it's been an insane amount of time. So I've got an appointment on Wednesday to get them removed and I can't wait!! :D

Anyway, another interesting thing to make me feel really good. I went to work to pick up a Vodafone card (sadly I ran out of phone credit *cry*) a-- omg that reminds me. It was so funny at work on Wednesday when I went in to start my shift. I'd just gotten my haircut and I tried out a new style with a tiny bit of gel so my hair would look less "Asian" but my hair is SHORT. Anyway, I went in and it was sooo funny. Cheryl looked up then did a double-take and was like "WOAH" and Steph was like "Holy crap someone's sexy" and Jagjit was like "Wow. Someone's looking very smart!" I laughed so much but it was soo embarrassing. Then Shawn came by during the night and he just stopped and started smiling the way he does and was like "Great haircut Jonny" so I just poked my tongue out at him. But the funniest one was with Peter George, the liquor manager. He spotted me and just grinned so wide and I was like "Don't you dare say anything!" and he was like "Hello Jonathan!" and started laughing. But he said it was a real nice haircut haha, better than the mop I had before. People have just gotta adjust to me having a mop with a semi-mullet one day to having almost no hair the next. :P

But it was even more annoying and embarrassing when I was just about to close the store... and Gary walked in. I'd been texting him before during my break and told him about the haircut. I was gonna go have a movie night with him again but I was WAY too tired to do anything and I needed major sleep so I declined and he surprised me by coming in. He just was like "Holy {expletive hax0rd by Cspace} dude!" and started snickering and I nearly threw my cloth at him. Seriously, it can't be THAT big a change in hairstyle. Although Callum couldn't stop snickering all through his shift and HE'S SLACKER AT HIS JOB OMG DON'T TALK TO ROSS WHILE DOING JOBS.

Anyway, I've got quite a few homework assignments and projects to do these holidays and of course I'm procrastinating like mad. Currently got to start and finish my music presentation, Socrates essay and a term's worth of Maths homework (I regret going to Music instead of Maths now...). It's <strike>Thursd</strike> Friday morning of the first week and excluding today, I have 10 more days to complete all these projects. Hah. The reality of it all is this:

My Socrates essay won't even have a title, only maybe a little bit of research here and there. Will try do it during the term but will end up cramming the very last night before it's due in Term 3 Week 3. Music research presentation, hell if that's going to be done. I don't even know what I'm going to research and I don't even know the due date so this is top priority. I'll probably end up researching heaps and just do a little bit of work and leave the rest for the first week of term but even that is what I hope, not what'll actually happen. See Socrates essay theory above for the reality. Maths... I'll actually do that. Mr. Stowers is getting pretty mean about homework and making stay-ins for lunch and interval increase at an exponential rate for time. So to have a social life during school, I'm going to do all my Maths homework during the holidays. Can someone tell me what's wrong with that statement?

But now I'm gonna hop off and go to bed since I'm covering Gary's shift tomorrow. Damn Gary, he owes me for this. He wanted to go to Auckland since he hasn't been there in ages so he can hang out with his mates up there (aka getting completely smashed while up there) so he asked me if I could do his shift and sadly I complied. He better turn up to work on Sunday though, I have to close up the shop that night and he's my 10pm-finish person so he better not call in sick, otherwise I'll scream down the phone at him even if he has a hangover. :P

~ Jonny

Callum: All you need to do now is spike your hair right up and streak it blonde.
Me: N-- Hey, that's what Gary does!
Callum: Exactly, you two can be twins then.

If You're Bored

Posted by JGJTan  Icon, 22 June 2007 - 11:39 AM

Ahhh work was hell as boring! And so was school! My god today was so dull... but I'll talk about it anyway. :P

Today school was pretty lame. I had to bike because of work in the arvo and it looked really cloudy and was kinda raining and I had to take my clarinet. So I got to school and then when I had to go for my music lesson it bucketed down with rain which was completely insane. So I went to Music... to find out Andrew Hall (my teacher) was away today. So I brought my clarinet for nothing and I wouldn't have been able to get out of Physics. But then Mr. Botting needed me to find the performance tapes from last year for Music since they were going down to NZQA for moderation and he'd lost them and they were due in today! So I managed to find them... and Mr. Botting kinda got scary and gave me a hug and started praising me. So then he granted me permission to skip Physics after jazz band which was SO AWESOME!! And then the skies cleared which was even better!! :D

But work was sooooo boring. It was amazingly dead and I got heaps of stuff done and ended up abandoning checkouts and talking to Rebecca near the end. Seriously, there was nothing to do. But then at the end I was just talking to Shawn and stuff haha he's awesome as, always manages to crack me up. :P

Oh yeah!! It was so funny during Maths. Mr. Stowers now has the habit of keeping people behind if they ain't up to date with their homework and only 3 people had really done everything so we had to stay behind for 10mins and it was cutting into jazz band practice so I was like "Sir, me and Adrian have jazz band during lunch time. Can we stay in longer another time?" and he was like "... you'll owe me a whole lunch period on Monday" and I was like "Aww... we'll stay" so then at the end when time was just about up, Mr. Stowers was so funny! He was like "Ok then you jazz banders..." and me and Adrian were just about to pack up and then he was like "... one more minute" and we just cracked up. :P

SOCCER TOMORROW!! AND MUSIC!! Oh my god I'm so excited about it. I dunno why haha. :D

Oh and darn Gary. He's trying to convince me to make a bebo page and I think it's working... but I don't want to! Everyone uses it and I might get addicted. UGH. He even used reverse psychology on me and I fell for it. So I might make one shortly... :(

~ Jonny

Shawn: Jonny, you going to see the Transformers movie when it comes out?
Jonny: Uhh... maybe not... depends.
Shawn: Wait, what kind of movies do you like? What's your favourite movie?
Jonny: *embarrassed* I like Amelie. It's a French movie.
Shawn: Yeah I've heard of it. Wait. Don't tell me you're one of those artsy types at school.
Jonny: ... maybe.
Shawn: Oh dear god. Please don't start randomly hitting on me.
