Since a few problems have died down regarding the warning system I am now able to bring it back, however now it has functionality. Mods can obviously warn members again, but Super/Global Mods can now suspend accounts for serious reasons to remove problems from our community.

Anyway, now the warnings will be handled more strictly and they must not be used for jokes, even on other moderators.

A Moderator of any level can warn a member for the following reasons:

- Insults directed at anyone.

- Abuse of features, such as PMing advertisements or harmful information in signatures. This does not include signatures which are too large, include plugins (which aren't technically allowed), or are distractions.

- The posting of personal information without a member's consent.

- The posting of illegal or obscene content. While information regarding roms and emulators should not be posted, you may not warn for it (instead just remove the post).

- Obsessively spamming where spam is not allowed. This is referring to pointless or irrelevant replies to serious topics and repeated posting of pointless threads where they do not belong. A good check is not whether you find a topic pointless, but if the thread has any topic at all.

- If due to a mistake or bug a moderator gains the temporary ability to ban members, THEY MUST NOT USE IT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. I am just covering all possibilities of things which could go wrong and if something is abused like this you will lose your mod rights immediately.

- This list may be ammended at any time though not to result in a member's warning for previous actions.

A Moderator may warn another moderator for the following reasons:

- Currently any reason that another member may be warned.

A Super Moderator may suspend an account for the following reasons:

- A member is an immediate threat to the board's security. If someone deliberately posts links to keyloggers, exploits a bug on the forums, or anything which can directly harm a member or the site itself (other than verbally or visually), the member's account MUST be suspended right away. If it was a false alarm he/she will no longer be suspended, but do not do this unless you are sure that the member did not just make a mistake.

- There are currently no other circumstances in which a Super Mod may suspend a member, and doing so will result in the removal of your mod rights.

A Global Moderator may suspend an account for the following reasons:

- Any reasons with which a Super Mod can suspend a member.

- Any reason with which the Global Mod sees the member to be a threat to the community.

Again, this feature must not be abused this time. Since it has real functionality now it is a serious matter and must not be used jokingly by anyone.

Note: No one may be warned for anything done previously.

Addition: A member may have his/her warning level decreased by any mod if improvement is displayed.

There is no particular reason or incident that sparked it, just trying to make the community more secure and prevent possible future insults or whatnot. Along with that the increased power given to Global Mods (currently OM and MoS) will help keep members from either trying to get members they don't like banned or getting around a banishment for something that they did. It is difficult for one member to handle this because all information, whether correct, sketchy, one-sided, or even false, must be compiled making it difficult to come up with the correct solution. With the responsibility in the hands of two other very responsible members, however, it will be difficult for members to get around things when they are doing something wrong, and whether or not suspensions are necessary, conflicts will be handled more effectively from the administration's perspective.

This is more preventative than as a solution for a particular situation happening now or previously.

Well, it wasn't taken out because of the Anti-SeeDs but due to other complaints. The main reason was because it had no real functionality, was not taken seriously, and some mods joked around with it (which was fine for the most part then, but a few situations went too far). We took it out as a preventative because situations could realistically come from it, but now a few things changed with it and the possible situations are no longer applicable.

It would probably be best to take it on an individual basis... Rarely do insults happen unintentionally, but there are some cases in which people may take offense to something on a sig, image, etc. In those cases, like we have done in the past, a request to change or cease the behavior will take place.

Thing is, nothing really changed, stuff was just added on if you think about it. Rules didn't change, just the way to handle them did.

Likely for the same reason that Admins can't be warned. They aren't going to do something worthy of warning.

I would imagine that if a global mod had done so many things that they have to be warned over and over, then they shouldn't be a global mod.
