- Obsessively spamming where spam is not allowed.  This is referring to pointless or irrelevant replies to serious topics and repeated posting of pointless threads where they do not belong.  A good check is not whether you find a topic pointless, but if the thread has any topic at all.

How about for spamming in an insulting manner? Not directly insulting members, but breaking two rules at once.

If a post is intended to be insulting, then the member may be warned whether for spamming or not. The member may not be warned twice however if for the same offense.

What if the person unintentionally insulted? Would a warning be in order, or a verbal warning via PM?

If it's obviously not intentional (although the word 'insult' generally describes an attempt to hurt someone in most contexts) then an official warning will not be issued. Sometimes someone is hurt by a comment that is not intended to be viewed in that way, and we aren't going to do more than mention the mistake if this is the case (probably via PM). If any profanity is used and someone is hurt, however, it will always be judged as intentional. We won't warn unless general profanity is obsessive, but if used in a message that hurts someone it will always be considered an insult.

hmm, why cant Global Mods be warned?

Hehe, to prevent a sabotage of our community. biglaugh.gif

I know that I'd find it funny if, as a mod, I could warn and potentially suspend the accounts of the Admins and Global Mods. I hope no one thinks the same way, lol, but that's why Global Mods and Admins can't be warned or anything that goes along with it. bluetongue.gif

Also if, by chance, a Super Mod goes on some rampage, the others will be able to fix it without being stopped possibly. bluetongue.gif

I think this could work well, and it's nice to have an iron-clad set of rules us mods can stick by. About the insulting thing, just use your common sense as to whether something was meant to be insulting or not, in most cases i've seen it is.

I was going to mention the only other difference between Super Mods and Global Mods (no being able to warn Global Mods0 before Serph asked that question. bluetongue.gif

It's good to have these rules for warning system now so that it isn't all confusing and you know who's actually been getting into trouble. bluetongue.gif Our only problem is Phieta now. TheSmile.gif bluetongue.gif

P.S. Hey Cspace, since the Super Mods have the new power of suspending, can you call it defenestrating? biggrinbandit.gif

Now now Draggy, don't have too much fun. bluetongue.gif

Heh, I agree with Goto on this, these set out guidelines would help when determining a course of action when a member was causing trouble.

I know how evil and untrustworthy Phieta is bluetongue.gif , but why in particular would he be a problem? grnwink.gif

And yeah, If we have rules to stick to, it makes it far easier to work out if anyone is abusing their powers or not. It also means if someone gets accused of abuse they can just show the rules.

Sigged!

Seriously though, I think this is a good thing as well. It's nice having the rules be loose around here, but certain things have to be well-defined I guess.
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

I've never had any experience with this, but it seems like a good idea.

PS: Was this used during the 'SeeD Depression'?
HI! I'M BACK SPORADICALLY! Nobody probably remembers me :(

Uh...SeeD Depression? Must've been before my time. Or maybe it all blends into one big horrible mass of conflicts...

Warning basically means that (s)mods are watching you and you should try to control your actions. Smods have the power to suspend your account for a certain number of days. I don't know if mods can, I haven't tried it out yet. bluetongue.gif

SeeD Depression? Uh, we've had conflicts, and my depression bluetongue.gif And I was involved in some of the conflicts.... So therefore, I'm the SeeD depression bluetongue.gif

I actually don't see any real point to all of this, but if you think it's a good idea I suppose it should stay back, but I want you to keep your word of the fact that they will lose mod rights immediately if they abuse their powers...
