Hello guys as you've heard I have a form of cancer called leukemia (ALL variant) its highly curable but I feel sorry I cannot help other children and people who suffer from all forms of cancer.
Thats why I request that SeeDs who are kind enough too donate blood for cancer patients or hold donation events to aid in the research for a cure for all forms of cancer not just leukemia so get friends and family members to pledge money or donate blood at your local blood drive. Also this is a good announcement and an important announcement the more people care and donate blood or help in a cure for cancer the more people you'll make happy just imagine telling a kid with Non-Hodgekins form of cancer being able to live longer than a expected 3 years. So those who care and have a kind enough heart starts charity events and donate blood and get friends and family members to donate blood.

Sincerely Nottygirl
(P.S. DO NOT PUT THIS IN ANOTHER FORUM OR ELSE ITLL DISSAPEAR AND NO ONE WILL HELP)sry for the caps but had to get your attention.

Yeah, cancer is a big problem. My dad has been donating to the Jimmy Fund for years, which I'll probably do when I'm older, too. It's more for kids, which have a lot more of their life left.

I remember hearing something about a plant under the ocean that could possibly be the cure for cancer. Another reason why we should start exploring more down under. bluetongue.gif

Oh, I didn't know that. That's for easing pain though, the plant they were making theories about could actually cure cancer. They just need money to search for it though and do all the experiments.

Actually, you can be 16 to give blood, but you need parental permission, and have to fill out extensive forms. Believe me, I tried at my school's blood drive. Was a week too young.

In my school drive, you had to be 18 and weigh 150 lbs....
I wanted to, but I'm only 16... sad.gif

Also, look for local walks and drives if you want to assist further.

An old teacher of mine has a relative who was diagnosed with leukemia. Because of him we, as a school, joined in a walk for leukemia function which happens once every year. With pledges we were able to help as much as we could.

Giving blood is good, but if you can't, there is something out there for everyone. It just needs to be found.

Yeah, I'd love to donate, but the weight limit would be a problem bluetongue.gif (70lbs)

Oh yeah, MoS just reminded me. I did a 5-mile walk for breast cancer once. There were groups and everything. My aunt was the leader of ours since she had breast cancer herself before.

I doubt cancer will ever be rid of completely. It's very difficult to isolate those types of mistakes in DNA. that and the fact that little mutations in your DNA happen all the time and any one of them, tho most don't do a thing, could cause a cancer type problem. if you actually study the problem itself, it's interesting how cancer is spread out around the world. for example, if you live in China, you are at high risk for stomach cancer. if someone from china moved somewhere else, they would not be at high risk for stomach cancer anymore. they would be at high risk for the cancer type in the are they move too.

right now I'm too young to donate blood, 15. We should put a thread in here that list types of mutigens (sp?) and other things that you can do to protect yourself from cancer.

ps, mutigens (sp) is anything that causes mutations in your dna. these include things like chemicals in cigarretts and cigars, UV radiation, and various other chemicals. If you have taken a Biology class, you should have a chapter or section in your books bout this stuff.

sry bout ranting, but this kinda stuff is very interesting to study, and I would love to see a thread dedicated to the subject of what cancer is and how you can prevent it etc. Awarness is the key to prevention TheSmile.gif

Actually, I remember that there was a screensaver/background application similar to SETI@home to help find a cure for cancer. Instead of downloading data units from sections of the sky, you download information from molecules of interest (I'm not the biology person, don't know what they're looking for). The information that the program obtains is then sent back, almost exactly like SETI@home.

In my opinion everyone should load either application on their computer to help with what they find to be important (and if you have a fast computer you can probably do both at once). Once they find a cure for cancer many thousands of people can be saved, I would highly recommend that you try the program out.

Unfortunately, however, I last used it about a year ago and forgot where to find it. I will post a link when I am able to find it.

The sooner they can find a cure the more people can be saved, I believe that everyone should try to help with the endeavor in any way they feel is right.
