No offence meant here Zolly, just a thought: We may not want to just pour on thing after thing after thing, such as your land ideas that you've recently implemented. The thing is, if you implement things too quickly, people will get easily confused, especially if they're small things that don't affect the whole world of DS. While I admit updates are good, we should do them in moderation.

One of the fundamental concepts behind most RPGs is that you shouldn't start with major groundbreaking situations like demons and whatnot. They can be there, but they should not start causing trouble until later (otherwise there is no progression). I am mostly taking care of the progression since it has to go in a certain direction (however affected by everyone eventually). GMs are free to create random quests or a progression of quests, but if you wish to build up to something threatening an entire region the progression should last at least enough time for it to be realistic. Demons can be in these quests (or spontaneously if it makes sense), but DStorm (the actual game) is not like Runescape in terms of its story. There are random quests like Runescape, but there will also be a deepening storyline that will progress as everyone plays. This forum can be a little different, but the storyline is still there.

Here's a little description of what everyone can and cannot do (has not been placed in the rules yet):

Normal Characters: They can do anything involving their own character. They can do everything from creating stalls in the streets of Aderon, to creating some ruckus in Shral Valeron to get you sacrificed, to frolicking in the fields of Zolandor, to whatever else you desire within the bounds of your abilities (please excuse my *cough* lame examples bluetongue.gif ). They can also create situations. Maybe you are angry at the king of Aderon, so why don't you create a rebellion? You can do anything that does not have a spontaneous reward, however you can do anything you want including personal quests rewarding your own obsolete items if you wish.

GMs: GMs can create quests and NPCs, as well as items and enemies within the limits of common sense. They cannot create classes (though they can be suggested by anyone), and can only directly create abilities through certain effect items (not many, and should verify them first). They can technically do anything in terms of what is available, though should not affect any situations created by Rylkan's or my plot-related quests because it could cause confusion since things will tie together eventually. They can also create certain aspects that can function independently of everything else without hurting anything (such as factions; while not part of DStorm there's nothing wrong with them being official in the forum). They cannot make changes to the rules without prior consent (can suggest changes though).

Also, on another note, XZ and Hyper just happened to be very active, wished to benefit DStorm, and due to their superior post counts and opposing alignments they could be the light and dark leaders (otherwise they would have just been GMs, but their situations allowed for these other positions which could benefit more things by creating rivalry between good and evil). Post count is not taken into account regarding GM selection, just possible roles in the plot. When selecting GMs we choose those who are most active and enjoy roleplaying the most while being responsible. If you are the above you could be the next GM. TheSmile.gif
