I have a place in mind... just need to get the details (and since the HR office isn't open on weekends, and job app stuff closes at 1:00 on weekdays, it's gonna be awhile) and apply. I'll probably get it because I volunteer there (hey, even a nonprofit has to have SOME paid jobs, eh? Plus, it's basically the same thing I volunteer for, except that it's less work and pays $8.00 an hour...)
Good luck on yours. Hopefully with 7 places at least 1 will want you...
Discounts are great. Cinemas tend to give free movie tickets, and I know for a fact McDonalds gives half-off. Depending on the manager though it could be only while you're on break, but others let you do it anytime.
EDIT: I did the research. The HR office is open 9 AM to 1 PM, Monday thru Thursday. That's just to get a full job description. "Mini-description" for lack of a better term are available on the website. They don't offer applications, you have to give them a resume and hope they like it. O well.
I also wasn't suite sure about Cali's working age laws, so I went to www.ca.gov and poked around. It's actually kinda funny to read. It specifically prohibits me from working in a coal mine. <sarcasm>darn, that's what I've always wanted to do</sarcasm>. I *can* operate a fry machine (it didn't say whether it meant french or freedom), but I have to be in direct view of customers, and I have to have a supervisor. Oh well. I plan to take tickets.
Interestingly, I can work only 3 hours on school days, but a full 8 on weekends. Why not 4 on school days? Also, the limit per week is... uh...13 hours I think. 8+3 is 11. Stupid Davis... They expect me to work every Saturday, plus one random school day? Confuzzled. I hope I read it wrong. Summer though, it's 8 hours a day, any day, with 40 as the limit. Hmm. 8 bucks an hour though.... tempting, tempting...
I also undid my confuzzleness about work permits. Apparently I can't get one until I'm actually employed. So basically I can't legally have a job unless I already do. WTF? Oh well, if it works, it works. I don't mind.
Now to write a non-sucky resume and fax it to them...
