They were slaves!
During the witchhunt I think that only 17 people were killed. The others people were rallied up and all, but not forced to be slaves and sold like items.

primaraly, because the abuse they received was hardly protested, and very government sanctioned at times. i.e. certan groups of native americans under "govornment protection" were intentionaly given blankets that had been used my persons with smallpox. it was a known fact that native americans had no imunitys to such diseases and thus, thousands of people were murdered via this painful disease. Also, the famous 'trail of tears" episode, where thousands of native americans were forced to march halfway across the US in a total relocation of there peoples away from there homes. If i remember corectly, more than half there number died during the march.
The reason i don't beleive that the slaves suffered the most, (although a close second) is the fact that most slave owners were not the steriotypical persons of tv and film who beat slaves for the slightest transgression. true, slavery is definitly an evil thing, but the overall treetment of the slaves was better than the native americans vecause the slaves receved shelter, somwhat decent food, ect. vs the treatment of the native americans on the early reservations (poor houseing, given rotten food, ect).

The 'Battle' of Wounded Knee. Hundreds of Indians butchered because one resisted arrest.
Killing Buffalo. Whites stood on trains and shot buffalo at random, effectively destroying the Indians food supply, clothes and everything else. The Indians depended on buffalo.
US Army killing them like animals because they wouldnt sell their holy land.
Forcing them into reservations. Reservations were built on land no settlers wanted, infertile soil and no water supply.

Anyways, I think the African-Americans because they were used as slaves! The fights between the "blacks" and the "whites" is just not right. Every human should have had the same rights as others and shouldn't have been used as slaves!!!

^^ Thanks Ayumi, you rock!! ^^
How many five-year-olds could you take in a fight?
Red Carnation, Hibiscus. Spiderflower. White Violet... Peony?

The witch hunts were over a three hundred year period or something. Joan d' Arc was burned at the stake after being accused of a witch. (Just to show you how far back witch hunts date) A lot of people weren't killed, but then again, neither were many slaves. I'm just deciding by how long the persecution lasted, nothing more. |
Actually, since this is the worst suffering in the US, France does not count.
I voted blacks. Combination of slavery and fighting for civil rights.

out of the things listed the sufferage of the american indian is by far the worst and longest running. most of you dont understand that slaves where veiwed as property or cattle. i know of very few farmers that beat and mistreat their animals(the source of their income). in fact most slaves stayed on the farms after they were freed, as hired workers.
BTW a little known fact, and probablly the most horrible thing in us history is how john smith & the mormon church have been persectuted, and drove across the land.
