I disagree that inactive members should stay. Many people just join a clan in order to gain bragging rights.
In this case, SeeD would be the perfect clan to do this because:
  • We claim to have 1400+ members
  • No joining requirements
  • We will never delete them so they can simply run saying: 'SW00T! I'm in a clan with 1400+ members!' even if they have never posted on the clan's boards.

This is why many people join this clan. While yes, it doesn't take much to store all those "members", but if they really wanted to stay in the clan, they should come back and take their time to register again.

Meh, i'm opposed to all out deletion... why? I was gone for 2 years and came back bluetongue.gif Things happened, I took on a ton of jobs (initally to get membership when it first started) and starting College took all the time out of me. Now I have a lot more time free than I did back then...

Maybe an alternative is to make a member group called, "Forum Inactive"... I dunno. There were some members of SeeD that didn't post on boards, yet they were still members.

Make a whole set of forums for inactive members. bluetongue.gif

Actually, I think MoS's suggestion is very feasible. Granted, there's the fact that since virtually none of em' post, there's virtually nothing to see, plus the fact that the forum totals still say this. However, it works for the moment bluetongue.gif Unless Cspace can do something like "Un-valdiate" them, making it so they're unincluded, but all they need to do is get their account re-validated if they wanted to come back. No clue if that could happen, though.

I like this "Forum inactive" group idea or whatever. because i joined SeeD and was a active RS player for almost 4 months, befor i discovered the forums. (i knew about the registration forum, but not this one) thus, i showed up for the JBI meetings we dont have, and added people from the clan to my friends list, and finaly got to talking with some of them. which finaly lead me here. thus, a Forum inactive group, would serve to hold members that have yet to utilize the forum, but are in the clan.
I'm opposed to the removal of inactives, because it simply apears that we decided to kick 1000ish players out of the clan, and in the event a player returns and finds themself no longer part of the clan, it apears to them that they were simply not wanted or somsuch chaos. (simply put, it looks bad to remove 1000 people from your clan roster)

Initially that was what the Inactive Garden thing was. Gardens with inactive members were labeled "Inactive" along with those in them (and could not take new members). Upon returning the members of these Gardens could transfer to other more active Gardens. All this without messing with their accounts, de-validating them, or deleting them altogether. In the process we have a "living" inactive list which doesn't require active members to judge inactivity for others but for members to declare themselves active again when the time comes.

That was our official "inactive" list and serves the same purpose as messing with their profiles. By the way, these forums also include members of CurvedSpace and there is no reason to delete them. The statistics for CurvedSpace do not affect anyone. That is why the member total for SeeD should be judged based on the member list and not these forums. The only case in which multiple accounts are used there is if multiple accounts are used in Runescape, here the "member total-derived" statistics would be distorted.

Perhaps we should update the inactive Gardens since the last time was a while ago.

Also, by the way, I am starting to feel that we are focusing too much on who is inactive instead of who is active. Messing with inactive members will not help anything, but bringing in new active members or bringing back the inactive members will help. There is also a contest now relating to this which will reward a Hosted Forum while helping the clan! So if you really want to help SeeD's activity, why not take a part in promotion or contacting old friends in SeeD? That is what will help us most with regards to activity.

I just added an alert message on the Member Manager regarding the forums, maybe that will help things a bit. Some even think that those are our forums, or so I am told...

That'll change though.

Note: The alert message only comes up on the board index.

I'm a member of too many forums to visit all of them on a regular basis. Which is the reason why I'm active in Rs2 but rather inactive on these forums. I do come back from time to time though.
