The excuse for our schools uniform is "Its fairer on some students as fashion seems to be a big part of Students and if some poorer person wore something they could get bullied, so if you all dress the same the chances of bullying because of clothes goes down" or something like that.  We tried to change uniforms to casual last year thats the reason we got.

I sort of think its true because on Mufti Days (a day we can wear what we want) Some people get bullied because of their clothing, also on normal days im fine but if its mufti someone cant help but shout grunger... n other pointless names...
{lang:macro__view_post}

Gotta agree on that part. Our uniform (if you didn't click on the link) consists of a grey shirt, grey shorts, black socks, black shoes, maroon jumper (optional) and the black and red school jacket (also optional). P.E. you wear a red school shirt (I nearly look like I'm swimming in it) and black shorts (short shorts!!!).

^^ Thanks Ayumi, you rock!! ^^

How many five-year-olds could you take in a fight?
Red Carnation, Hibiscus. Spiderflower. White Violet... Peony?

I agree with Stuffy on this one. Uniforms are an excellent way of making life easier for school staff. There may be something inappropriate written in a new way, such as a new term for something that already existed before, and teachers might not necessarily understand it, such as a new name for a previously existing drug. With uniforms, it's much easier to see those that aren't complying with the rules.

In my school, in a certain social group of people (you can probably tell which by my description), people insist on wearing spikes on their wrists, piercing the skin near their knee with safety pins, and doing other things like that just to prove how "rebellious" and how much of a "nonconformist" they are. Whatever_anim.gif How far can you let free expression go? Spikes run the chance of hurting someone unintentionally. Are you going to let people wear them when they could poke someone's eye out or stab someone accidentally? The same people often also bring knives to school when they're not allowed to. As for safety pins, I'll give a story from something I saw before. A person with safety pins in his skin from his knee about halfway down to his ankle collided with someone in the hallway by accident, the safety pins were ripped out, and his leg was left a bloody mess. In my opinion, it served him right, but are we going to allow people to "wear" things that can hurt both themselves and others?

Haha, leave it to you to bring Goths up bluetongue.gif

Well, for starters, there's only 3 goths in my little school. Me, a good friend (Who I'm getting a kitten off of in a couple weeks biglaugh.gif), and a lady. Only 2 of us wear spikes, and I take mine off during gym and such. And people don't usually come near me because for some reasom I'm intimidating Whatever_anim.gif And last time I checked, no one wore safety pins in their legs (That was probably just an example you gave). Spikes are usually dull, not sharp, so you can't really stab someone.

PS: This was about clothes restriction, not stuff that people do. And as far as the nonconformist goes, I don't know what you're talking about. I know plenty of Goths (Including myself) who are Christian.

Even if the point is dull, you can still hurt someone pretty badly.

That stuff that people do would not be allowed under your school's new dress code, if anyone with common sense is in power. So, it would still count.

I forgot to comment on the sandals part. That's the one part I disagree with. I often wear sandals to school, and like being able to. It's a safety hazard, but one I'm willing to deal with. Especially during the spring and summer months of the school year.

I can see how this argument/debate could build into a conflict, so please try not to offend someone due to their preference in clothing or style. Goths are human beings just like anybody else and everyone has the right to be the person who they want to be.

Also, I can see how Crescens' and Killer's sig could be taken the wrong way. It could be considered a little risky to be put in there because it could offend nonconformists such as Serph.

Mod Serph: I'M NOT A FREAKING NONCONFORMIST!!! YOU KNOW THAT!! You don't know how angry that makes me!

Funny coming from someone who "believes that everyone should have a voice". If everyone should have a voice, why try to take that freedom of speech away from Crescens and I?

Everyone has a voice unless it offends someone. You don't just take cheap shots at someone like him in your sig... Serph may be a goth, but that doesn't make him any less of a person and he still has emotions. Even if you believe what your sig says, it doesn't need to be visible. You can have thoughts without expressing them openly since some of those beliefs can be very offending to someone.

So because you and Serph disagree with my signature, you assume it is a cheap shot at someone? My sig doesn't necessarily refer to goths, but because you and Serph know of my great dislike for goths, you take that comment to be directed at Serph. For all you know, I could be referring to "wiggers", or the MTV generation. Or metalheads.
