If you knew someone who was on forum A, and another person on forum B, and they had the same name, the same e-mail, and the same IP, would you assume that it was the same person?

Hrrrm...This is where I can help...You can only assume by the name and address...but with the IP...ooh...It's either them, or someone in their house, because their address didn't change.....Dunno how you could have tested that without some equipment though....Unless it was VIA MMORPG.

What if I happened to have access to the IP's on both of these forums. Would you assume that this person's mother was getting on the forums under this person's name?

If that is the case we would see if things match up (in terms of the situation). Unfortunately if the IP matches exactly it will be difficult to prove to be someone else. Can happen, but not likely (and not legal for someone to mask it like that).

Hmm...What if this person denies everything? I would check grammer and speech tendencies, but it just so happens that this person didnt post at all on Forum B.

Its not that Im concerned about this person being on forum B, but it arouses my suspicion when someone with the same name, IP, and e-mail denies ever going to Forum B in the first place. Its not exactly something that would be either necessary or important enough to deny.
