Wouldn't it be cool?

Just under the warning meter, there's a mod meter. When someone does something good, a Smod could put a little percent on the meter. 5% at the most. The Smod must post the reason they did that and all the advances will be recorded. When someone does something bad, their meter loses 25% (Can't go below 0%). Once they reach 100%, Cspace is alerted about them having accomplished a lot. They might not get to become a mod, because, of course, it's Cspace's choice.

This is basically just an alert/rulebreaker prevention system.

There are some bugs in the idea, but they can be fixed...

hmm.
cool idea, but I'm not shure if its a good idea, because of how people might react if they get to 100%, and then do not become a mod.
beyond that, i like it.

It's called a rating, and many other forums use that, instead of the warning system (they are both options for Invision. I think only one can be active at one time, though). For example, RunescapeCommunity's ratings go from -5 to 5. -5 rating = permaban rotate.gif

Interesting idea, although probably not best used as a means of approval for modship. With the amount of great members around here that'd deserve 100%, we'd either have it not being used, or we'd have waaaay too many new mods bluetongue.gif .

Having a ratings system up might be a good idea though. The only problem I can see with it is people getting upset about not having theirs put up, or it being abused during fights. Perhaps if we watch and see if the warning system works this time around, and see if the rating system (which has a few of the same flaws as Warnings) would work well too.

I really like the idea, I just don't want to see more conflicts springing up out of jealousy, people shamelessly just trying to get their rating up, it being abused, etc. We're at a bit of a fragile period right now, thats all. It could also be a very positive thing though, if it's used correctly.

Nearly half to three-quarters of the active members here are mods anyway... bluetongue.gif

I'm not sure if this idea would work but:

How about if only Cspace and a specific amount of smods could add/remove to the rating metor. No warning metor, of course, being it is just depending on how high/low you are.

Mods should be able to view it but not add or even delete to the rating unless specificly picked for the team.

Memembers should be able to view their own rating bar but not add nor delete theirs or anyone elses. They shouldn't even be able to view another, of course, being they are just members.

This may seem like a lot of work and it basically would be but still I think, if it could work, it's a good idea. No idea if it can I think the basic coding for Invision wouldn't allow it but maybe a forum hack? Oh and by the way these are legal, depending on what they do, even the main support forums have some listings. thumb.gif

Possibly, but that sounds a lot like the current warning system. Generally Rating systems are shown to all, it's sort of a way for others to see your reputation. Having Smods-only doing it sounds good, though.

It's by no means a bad idea, it's just quite similar to the system we have now. Anybody else have any suggestions as far as this goes?

This isn't a rating system. It's a way to notify cspace when a member has worked really hard to be a good person. Like I said, he doesn't have to make them a mod, it's sort of something to show someones progress. Like a progress report.

Heh, some mod I'd never heard of gave me +1 there... A week after I stopped posting there.

I get what you mean Ferret, and that could work quite well. If it did happen I think Cspace might have to specify what kind of things deserved a rating increase, to try to even out what they were given for. I still quite like the idea of everyone being able to see them, so it gives everybody an idea of what somebody is like. I see that they perform different roles though, and both have advantages though.

Okay, this is wavering on the off topic line.

Let's get back on topic.
