I guess you gave him food so he brought you some food in return biglaugh.gif .

How big was that opossum? (Had an opossum bring itself once.) My older cat, who can't seem to catch anything, caught a mole once (showing her serval side I guess).

I wouldn't think cats would be good to eat. The muscles would be kind of tough. I wouldn't eat either, but I suppose dogs would be worse.

... So what you're saying is you'd prefer to eat a cat than a dog. Fine by me, leaves more dogs out there for everyone else biglaugh.gif .

Same goes for you, Rat. If more people like dogs, there are more cats around for your culinary delights.

Actually, I'd rather not eat either (and I think I would choose dog over cat, if I was forced to choose), but since I like cats better, cats must be better (actually, I guess that's not the best logic bluetongue.gif ).

I DO NOT love cicadas. Nor do I like locusts, but at least they're the teeniest, tiniest, itty bitty little bit cuter than cicadas (except for that wierd green one). Of course, I haven't had any cicadas jump on or at me, so I think I like locusts worse. That fossil cicada is the best one.

Hehe, cicadas don't bite or sting. They don't cause real damage to plants either (unlike locusts). Really, all cicadas do is sit there and chirp. bluetongue.gif

The only thing that people dislike about cicadas is that when they lay eggs they kill the small branches on trees (nothing thicker than about a centimeter). Only one branch though (only the end of it), and what they forget is that the next year two branches would grow in its place, helping the tree in the long run. TheSmile.gif

Lol, as for jumping on you... Only the 17-year cicadas (the black ones with red eyes) actually hang out in the open and could realistically do that. They're the stupid ones, hehe, the others are generally hard to find. grnwink.gif

So in conclusion... Lucusts = bad screama.gif ... Cicadas = good! thumb.gif

Well, theoretically anyway. Good or not they still look creepy (counts for a lot for me). Of course, I don't run around screaming (like my sister does, and she's 18) when I see a little (or even a big) roach.

Hehe, when the 17-year cicadas come around the vets are overworked. Dogs like to eat them for some reason... The exoskeletons cause constipation and the insides cause diarhea screama.gif

(no joke, lol)

heh, i never saw thisa thread or i woulda been here AGES ago. im a cat nut, for those who havent figured it out. and despite being female, i can still find cockroaches cute (at a fair once, there was a giant burrowing cockroach from queensland [im from the land down under, folks], and it was soooo cute!).

but anyway. i love cats. and although i think cats are way better, i gotta say that some of the arguments here are pretty silly.
cats are more independent, but can be just as sociable and loveable as dogs. take oscar for example. even if he meets an absolute stranger, if they sit on 'his' corner of the couch, he'll come right up to them, and fall asleep either on or near them. and his claws stay sheathed. so you end up with this massive ball of grey fluff on your lap. its soooo cute! rotate.gif and for those of you who think cats are cold and have a major attitude problem, read this:
a farmer by the name of alfonse mondry was taken into hospital. his cat misele went across nine miles of country to the hospital, where she had NEVER BEEN BEFORE, snuck past orderlies, and found alfonses room. she then opened the door to the room, jumped on his bed, curled up on his legs, and started to purr. later, when nurses and doctors found misele sitting there and purring, they just didnt have the heart to spearate them!
and as for the eating disgusting things, dont get me started on some of the things both kira and oscar have eaten (oscars eaten kiras and his own vomit, for an example).

and just as a side note, a few influential people in history went both ways. for an example, winston churchill, einstein, frederick the great, abraham lincoln and the prophet mohammed were all cat nuts (much like myself bluetongue.gif ). mohammed for example. he loved his cat so much he let it sleep in the sleeve of his robes!and for another example, both alexander the great, napoleon and hitler heartily disliked cats. hmm....im seeing a pattern here... biglaugh.gif
and the ancient egyptians were cat nuts too. if a house caught on fire, the first one to be saved was the cat! and hurting a cat in any way was punishable by death, coz they were sacred to bastet, the cat goddess.

and going on to the intelligence factor, theres just no winners. there are smart cats, smart dogs, dumb cats, and dumb dogs (take little kira for an example. she walks into walls on a regular basis eek7.gif ). and regardless of how nutty some people may think i am for believeing this, but i believe that cats have ESP. so heres an example of that (and at the same time an example of their afection):
a man by the name of virgil mcmillan, who lived in the usa, found a starving kitten, nursed it back to health and named it slowly. for two years, slowly went out for a nightly prowl but always returned within an hour. one freezing night however, slowly did not return. so virgil and his wife searched for him in vain for hours. the next morning, virgil went looking for the cat again. while searching through his barn, he found an old sack. when he moved it to one side, slowly wriggled out, looked at him, and went back in it. virgil opened the sack and found, to his astonishment, slowly licking a half-naked baby boy. the baby was close to death and doctors later said that only the heat from slowlys body ahd kept the child alive during the night.
so, how did slowly know the child had been abandoned in the sack? because of it being so cold, slowly wouldnt have been able to smell the child. pretty amazing eh?

so as you all may well be able to tell, i vote cats thumb.gif

::EDIT::
ps cspace, i think the cicadas are gorgeous! and yes i really do love that face thumb.gif

and just for you goto, becky-dog is one of the smart dogs bluetongue.gif
