As you may know, I'm from Pittsburgh, and most of the greater pittsburgh area is flooded a lot. Now we rarely ever get floods, but yesterday it rained all day long and shattered our dialy rainfall record. The previous record was held by hurrican Francis at 3.60" (this was what, 10 days ago?). Franics broke the record held by a nameless hurican in the 1880's at 3.57" or .03" less than Francis. When I went to bed last night at 10:00-ish, the total for the day so far was 5.25" and it rained pretty hard afterwards. Ivan pwned Francis, and flooded Pittsburgh (if the ohio river rises a few more feet, Heinz Field and PNC park will be underwater bluetongue.gif).

A ton of our roads and houses are flooded. This has never happened on a scale so large in our area before. I really have nothing to worry about, though, as I live ontop of a huge hill. If I ever get flooded, the whole world's in trouble. The only thing I have to worry about is picking up some branches in my yard before I run them over with the lawnmower and break it. For some reason I'm without water right now, so I'm a bit edgy.

Anyone else get affected by Ivan indirectly like me?

Everything seems fine and dandy here bluetongue.gif *Looks out window* Uh.. Maybe not...

It's dark.

Well I suppose that's good, since it is 10:40pm bluetongue.gif

Also, it doesn't look very bad... http://www.thepittsb...919/detail.html

Eep! eek4.gif Quite a bit o' rain. Thing is, where my house is, we're the highest elevation in our county biglaugh.gif Not a big chance of flooding there. We actually live on a hill, so rain goes...

Only flood I remember having here was during a particularly strong El Niño.
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.

Nyuk nyuk. Sucks to live in a steel mill, eh?

We got some rain here, but it kept to the west, for the most part. TheSmile.gif

Well, is school out? bluetongue.gif

Heh, I was directly hit, so...our creek was a bit flooded, but since we're uphill from it, so it didn't matter

Yeah, because of the storm near you, we're getting flooded here in Yardley. It's coming down the Delaware and the Scukyll (I think that's how you spell it...). And unfortunatley, I live about 50 feet away from the edge of the Delaware. Actually, now I live only about 35 feet away from it.
HI! I'M BACK SPORADICALLY! Nobody probably remembers me :(

[rant] Yay! Well, power just got turned back on around 7:30 PM (Been without power for the entire weekend..Meh). Our river is as evil as it was with Frances. Ivan spawned 16 tornadoes in our county, then 1600 were without power, including our house icon_sweatdrop.gif Anywho, we went to the mall in another town for the day, getting away from the boredom without electricity (we were about to go nuts..). Things are getting better, but thankgoodness we didn't get as much rain as Pittsburgh eek4.gif

And yes, school was out Thursday and Friday, hehe. But a weekend without power was horrible, and we'll have to make up these missed days.. Bah!! [/rant]

Whoa! In our neighborhood, we were one of the five or so houses that DIDN'T lose power, (lucky us..biglaugh.gif) and only two tornadoes (one of which passed within a mile of my house).

Meh, sounds like you had it worse than us.

I've been hearing that the new record was somewhere in between 6 and 7 inches, nearly doubling the record.
