Poll #5 - How Strict Should We Be?

Spam shouldn't be a constant thing, but a little now and then can help keep things loose. Right now we've been going a bit overboard with it, but thats because the place really needed some loosening up. Despite what some people think, stricter rules and more up-tight attitudes tend to cause more fights, not less. The only way that approach would work is to permaban anyone that ever says anything about anyone else, and I don't think anybody wants that to happen.

"Spam" is an unnecessary (often short) off-topic post with no reason.
It would be like me replying to this with "Leviathan is the ultimate guardian force" or something.
A "joke" is not necessarily "spam". If someone finds it funny and if it at least branches from the thread (instead of something utterly random), what's wrong with it?
The only case in which this would be wrong is in a serious thread, such as some debates. That doesn't encompass the entire board though.

7!
7 because you should be 5 on first-timers, forgive and forget, but then 7 should be 2nd offense. Third offense needs to be seriously considered, normally if the person meant to, it would be a 10, but it might be someone's attempt at a harmless joke or something.

QUOTE
But aren't you an incompetent youth?
What in the world are you saying??? Of course I am!

And if I could get a trip to Saturn for being incompetent, sure, I'll wear that on my sleeve!

QUOTE
You can't really make an example out of me from that. Lol, we have some sort of weird misunderstanding happening all the time. I say something about your post and you apologize, and then I tell you I wasn't insulted and then I start ranting...
Lol, yeah... That's been happening a lot for some reason, no clue why but I guess it is.

QUOTE
Could you use a boot as an example for this?
Of course! You could use a boot as an example for anything! If SeeD can be compared to a boot, anything can be compared to a boot.

Let's see here...
If we treat the current members as people living inside a boot, and new members as wanderers looking at how muddy it is... Ok, I'll stop.

QUOTE
And I'm not going to Saturn! You know how much property taxes would cost there!? They'd be sky high! 'Cept there is not sky...
It's all sky there, property is cheap in most places but forget any insurance. Living in 1000 m.p.h. winds constantly does unfortunately have some disadvantages.

Plus the fact Saturn is all hydrogyn and stuff, nothing you can actually STAND on

We can't really loosen up because of all the fights that would break out. Maybe if SeeD started off communistic, then went to democracy, we could loosen up a bit. But there's too me tension for us to stop being "uptight", as you call it.
Trust me, we're not uptight. When you want uptight, go to a French forum.
No, really...
If you knew how many fights there are, then you'd understand. And I don't mean these huge ones, I mean the ones where people take little jabs, but don't fully express their anger. Then everyone's worried about a fight breaking out.
So we really need to tighten security.
And get that pipe fixed in insanity. I thought I told someone to fix that!

First of all, is this the only forum you have ever vsited? If not, then you must know that you can be more lenient then you're being and things would go rather smoothly.
Secondly, "fights" where people only take little jabs at each other isn't really a fight at all, and you souldn't stop them all the time. After all, some people are jerks and you shouldn't protect them if they need to be told that.

I agree that things should be looser, but in my experience those 'little jabs' will usually turn into larger fights if something isn't done to stop them. And yes, some people are just jerks, but many just have other things happening, are in a bad mood at the time, just have a problem with one or two people, etc.

Any major fights are about these kind of things. Let's stop thinking about it and trying to fix it, when the solution to unload it, like the picnic airplane in Spongebob (yes, I watched Spongebob, who didn't?
).
