Earlier today at about 10:15 AM there was a magnitude-6.0 earthquake on the San Andreas fault just south of Parkfield in southern Monterey County (just north of San Luis Obispo county). It was expected but overdue, scheduled to strike in the late 80s. Thus far there have been over 90 aftershocks and the initial quake was felt aws far north as San Francisco, west to Yosemite, and south to Santa Ana (a bit south of Los Angeles).
Article - KPIX-TVAmazingly there seem to have been no injuries, though there was a fair amount of damage in the Parkfield area. Up here in Monterey nothing really happened other than a bit of a ride

Fortunately the peninsula tends not to take so much damage, as we're literally sitting on a giant bed of granite - we slide instead of rolling.
Those who will remember, will speak fondly of the warm morning breeze.
