It's always amazed me how much Norwegian looks like Danish spelt by a 5 year old

As my weird german teacher used to say:

"Danskene snakker som om noen har stappa en potet ned i halsen deres!"

("The Danish speak like someone have stabbed a potato down their throat")

The Norwegian language got a lot of influence from German about 200 years ago, which makes Norwegian language very similar to German. Not many people know this though.
