GrrRrrrr I just read a 50 minute guide and found out and you beat me!!

Nope, the Mass was a "creature" (more like a giant blob thing miles long) that could kill beings with a single thought. It was powered by The Device, but it also acted together with The Device to send its energy through out all of Nosgoth via Glyph energy networks.

I'll give another hint: All creatures that was used to power the mass would eventually die, because their energy would be sucked out of them. However, this time the Hylden got an immortal being that could power The Device forever. However, instead of dying, the creature would transform drastically, which is why Kain did not realize who the creature is first hand.
