I hate to have to do this, but I'm doing it. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon, I'm leaving for a real reason that will be explained shortly. I've been having a hard time here lately and I think this ties my beliefs up in a knot and I can't be here anymore.

So many people have made comments on me being a man of morales and values. I'm not saying this to brag, but I see myself as being a person like that. I have accomplished so many things in my life, both for me and for others. I have a job that I love and never want it to change (most people can't say that), I enjoy getting up every morning and seeing my son and getting him off to school, and I enjoy coming home to fix dinner and do the little things with Mike that make a huge impact on both our lives. I have values set in stone in my mind and not a single person can change those.

Most of these values relate to ethics and laws. I'm not going to sit back and watch people say "I hope you die". That is far beyond flaming. I don't believe that kids in this clan need to see that and definately would not want my son viewing the violence and negativity. I took action so it wouldn't happen again and so younger kids wouldn't read it and think it is a cool thing to say. Your parents would crap their pants if that was allowed to be said on the forums (Those in the clan who are younger in age).

I can't stay in a place where things like that are welcome. I banned Traver for the reasons stated above, I don't care if I'm a Super Mod or a Global Mod. I was the first person to become an Elite General that wasn't a founding father and I've been here longer than 90% of everyone. I see what goes on and I know what should and shouldn't be posted here. Must you whine that I'm not a Gmod and pat Traver on the back for his comment??

I'm sorry to everyone in this clan who is my friend, but friendships don't dissolve just because I'm not here. I talk to almost everyone on Aim and my public email address is in my profile for those who can't get to me by Aim. It just makes me sick that people can make death wishes on someone and nothing happens about it and I don't stand for those values. Don't think I'm jumping on the bandwagon for this resignation business, I didn't think about it until today and I'm leaving for a damn good reason.

Go ahead and blame me for leaving with a bang or leaving to make a point, I'm sure you will. Go ahead and remove my mod powers, but ask yourself for the reason and then PM it to me when you do. I said I would stand by that banishment and I will. I'm not a person to give in because someone doesn't like it. I've been here far too long and been hurt many times indirectly, but when something like this hits home I won't let it happen.

Thanks to everyone here that make this place great, keep it up. Again, I'm sorry for doing this, but I have to do it.

I'm really sorry to see this happen Base. I can't blame you - your reasons were without snags, and I probably would've done the same in your situation.

You have always been a person I've admired - a police officer, a man of judgement and values, as you stated earlier, and just a good overall friend. The thing is, there were a lot of people who just... couldn't see it your way, whether it was appropriate or not. I guess that's just how it turned out.

Base makes a good point about that category of flaming and I made another rule for which SMods can ban for a set time. We will never stand for that and now it can be enforced without the issues with judgement.

A Real Life Death Threat: If a member posts a direct real-life death threat a SMod can suspend for three days (as well as edit the post).  This includes any obvious ill wishes which can occur in real life, including things like "I hope you get AIDS" and "I hope you get hit by a car".  Flaming is one thing but we do not wish for our community to transcend negativity from the gaming world into reality.  If severe, a GMod can extend this.

I hope you stay... If you're leaving over this we obviously aren't going to allow these things to happen anymore, I hope it still is not an issue...

I'm going to stay due to Cspace doing the right thing. Cspace reviewed the evidence again and looked over my reasons for banning Traver. Cspace then decided to keep the ban on for one more day (resulting in a 2 day banishment) after seeing that Traver was also flaming more than once, plus the addition of the death threat.

I'm sorry for getting upset, but I'm glad that Cspace went back through everything and finally understood my point of view.
