If you have Adobe Photoshop +7.0 it should have come with ImageReady. With ImageReady you can make simple animation like I did with my sign here:
To make movies you can use Macromedia Flash. I think it lets you convert your movies to .gif too but I am not sure.

I only use flash mx, but i lost my cd, and got a new computer. I cant install it again. Check out some of the stuff i did on there!

yah, so anyways...yea.
yes you can convert them into .gif's but the amount of frames you have= the amount of .gif pics. You have to export image and assemble the gifs together yourself.
