Red Sox won World Series and broke the 86 year old curse! bigcheek.gif

I'm actually not a fan of baseballl, but somebody had to post about it. bluetongue.gif

That's pretty unusual. Maybe the Baseball League had wanted to only have America vs Canada so America would win... obviously. bluetongue.gif

Bartolo Colon -- Anaheim -- Birthplace: Altamira, Dominican Republic
Kelvim Jose Escobar -- Anaheim -- Birthplace: La Guaira, Venezuela
Benjamin Jose Molina -- Anaheim -- Birthplace: Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico
Alfredo Amezaga -- Anaheim -- Birthplace: Obregon, Mexico

Thats only one team, I didn't add players from the same country either because there were more people from Dominican Republic and Venezuela on this team.

Anyone who is a baseball fan knows about Hideki Matsui (Yankees) and Ichiro Suzuki (Mariners), both from Japan.

I know thats only a few countries, and I can go on if I wanted to... but last I checked, none of those countries are America or Canada(with slight exception to Puerto Rico) And if a superstar was born anywhere in the world, you bet that they would be in the MLB If they wanted to. People from Cuba are on teams, and everyone knows Cuban/American relations are horrid, so don't try saying otherwise. If the person has a drive, they Can do it.

So... to be politically correct and using my example, we should call the World Series the: Dominician Republic, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Japan, America, Canada Series? Heh. Real funny... non-baseball fans look at things with face value, only see american/canadian teams, and cry "Foul". If only they looked a little bit deeper at the players... oh well. Things were different way back in the day, granted... but i'm sure a bunch of countries wouldn't want to be judged by their past.

---

And the "Curse" everyone is refering to was "The Curse Of The Bambino". After the Red Sox won the world series, they traded a loose cannon who turned out to be the greatest hitter of all time, Babe Ruth, to the Yankees. Ever since then, the Red Sox were never the same. They were extremely close to winning sometime in the 80s, but a player made a costly mistake, and cost the team the championship.

Atleast someone here knows enough baseball to know of "the curse". Just a historical fact, the yamkees were like the worst team until Babe Ruth came along. people are saying that nomar took the curse with him. I just think the redsox got lucky. A-rod didn't cheat. The first baseman, and the pitcher were in his baseline. According to the rules the ibly one that should be in the baseline is the runner.

The curse might be gone, but the yankees are gonna win the world seris next year. If John Olerud didn't get injured they would've won this year.

Mrb1:

That explains this year... but what about:

2001 Diamondbacks-Yankees
(Yankees lose World Series in 7 to a team who only existed for 4 years(Expansion team))

2002 Giants-Angels
(Yankees lose in division series(first round))

2003 Marlins-Yankees
(Yankees lose World Series in 6 to a wild card team)

I am serious though, and since you seem like a fan(edit: saw your gmail account, nvm about 'seem'), Maybe you know the differences in teams. IMO: in 2001 they had no excuse, everything was in place but the DBacks pulled it off against the greatest closer of the decade. (In all honesty, I was rooting for the DBacks at that time because I was living in AZ at that time bluetongue.gif) But other than that, I cant recall what was up the past 2 years.
