Required to Start: 32 Quest Points, talk to Champions Guild Leader.
Quest Guide
Requirements: 33 magic, 32 quest points, 2000gp
1) Talk to the Champion Guild Master. Ask about Rune Plate Mail
2) Find Oziach, you will find him just west of Edgeville (ghostown), talk to him about the keys.

  • Good levels to fight the Dragon are 40/40/50, or 45/45/45
  • Most people fight the Dragon around 45-55 combat.
  • The lowest level to kill the dragon was lvl 7, using magic.
  • You will need 33 magic (with or without mind bomb) to complete the quest.
  • Potions will help
  • Wear at least Full Adamantite, prefrebly Full Rune.
  • Anti Dragon Breath Shield is essential
  • Upon entering the room, and fighting the dragon, your prayer is drained, so you cannot use it.
  • DO NOT USE MAGIC, unless you are behind a pillar.
  • Do not let the Dragon attack you, it will get 2 attacks
  • Take someone with you to kill the Lesser Demons, and Skeletons on the way in, and out of the area
  • Take 1 law, 3 air, and 1 fire rune, so you can teleport to Varrock, if you are in trouble.
  • When you beat the dragon, do not teleport away, or you will not find the secret passage.

If anymore questions come up, I will update this.
If you want someone to come along with you and help you, post HERE. Try not to make seperate posts, most of them have the same questions in anyway.

Actually you can get the secret passage before and maybe even after doing the dragon, I personally did it before, so I could take the secret door to go to the dragon, but if you want to do it after you will need to repair the boat again, I think...

I'd like to note that you should use whatever pots are available to you(f2p str pot, p2p use all 3 supers.) it help a ton. At lvl 51(5 or so lvls impure, I was able to beat the dragon with super pots and I only ended up eating 5 swordies. Also, while you can do it with an addy baxe, a rune one makes it so much easier. If you can't afford or don't want one to keep, find a friend and ransom your Rune 2 hander for it. One more thing: Be sure and "find" the secret door BEFORE you go into fight the dragon, that way if you die you can just goto karamja and go through the door, otherwise you will have to repair the boat and go through all those monsters that are on the island again.

Ouch. Sorry if it didn't work for you. Though you must have gotten unlucky because there is roughly the same amount of lessers either way.

Eh, you can't kill the dragon with magic. This is from Tip.it's beastiary:

[QUOTE]Notes:
  • First dragon was introduced with a Dragon Slayer quest et end of september 2001. It was one Green, fire breathing dragon called Elvarg. His fire can roast you for over 60 Damage making any fight very short IF you are without antidragon breath shield. As it is quest monster you can kill it only once and after that you are teleported out of cave.
  • If u cast damage spells to it it will shoot back to you and damage twice! so DON'T use it.
  • You cannot use prayers like paralyze monster for killing dragon. Before entering the room i had 38 prayer points, but when i entered they went down to 6.
  • And u should run if u have 14 hp and anti breath sheild the dragon makes 13 hits if u wear the anti sheild. Suggested Level to attack it is from 50+ with good eguipment, there is possible that even somone in middle 30 lv or lower can win with food supply, runes and equipment or some friend to curse dragon.
  • Tips for Killing from Danielc74 : I was combat 47, had a strength potion, attacked aggressively and i had 20 cooked lobsters and i only just killed him and i didnt have any lobsters left afterwards. I suggest that you carry your Weapon, Chest plate and Plate legs. Carry more cooked lobsters than i did because i only just survived. Carry a strength potion as well. If you're about to fight the dragon and you dont have the anti-dragon breath shield, then you're an idiot.
  • Example: player killed green dragon level 47 with addy plate addy legs and rune long and rest lobbies.
  • ??? was lvl 47 when he killed the dragon..... he use a crossbow while holding the dragon shield andn hide behind a broken pillar. Do not use longbow.
  • from dark counda: "I was level 40 when i killed the dragon , it was very hard , but i did it , i had rune legs , large , long , adam plate ,dragon sheild , and 25 swordies , so it is possilbe for a level 40 to do it. it took about 20 minutes , because i would attack it , then hide behind the little piller things for a while to regain some health so i didnt run out of food."

Lol my dad tried using prayer... He died once and when he beat it the second time, he ended using a total of about 30 pray pots... Then a month or so later I go and beat it with just 5 swordies.
