Yeah, compete is a good catchall to include games and duels. Even in the duel arena it says compete.

yeah, it says trade/compete everywhere.
Targets:

Woodcutting: 57/70...
Fletching: 55/65...
Thieving: 32/40...
Combat: 56/60... Attack 44, Strength 41, Defence 50.
Full rune and Granite Shield!
