OOC: You won't be able to afford it yet, that's part of the point.
You will eventually though, there will be other ways to get it aside from traders and quests as everyone knows them. Right away one shouldn't expect to be able to afford the best stuff, and as in all RPGs, the money flow increases over time.
Not to mention, you can get 1000 cn. right off the bat from this guy

Also, no one says that these are necessarily the cheapest prices you will come across...

Traders get it for the purpose of feeding the economy with more unique items (and there will be more trader customizations eventually, making them superior to most store-bought items). They will not, however, be the only source of money. Quests and other sources will exist, and don't forget that Traders or other characters will sometimes be interested in buying what you come across as well.

To give someone with a Trader (someone above a post count of 4000 atm) incentive to sell the items produced, he/she can transfer money (but not items) one-way to the main character; once there it cannot be transferred back. There will be incentive for Traders to hold onto the money though... For there will be some expensive Trader-only augmentations and whatnot which will both help keep the economy in balance and get some decent and unique stuff into DStorm.

OOC: What happens to my horse when I turn into a hawk and fly or something of that sort? Is it simply always with me when I need it like a summon?

"Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow."

OOC: Basically, it's just with you when you want it and you're on the ground.
