It's not just that. You have to admit that it makes things a little more special for people.

Besides, that logic can be placed on anything... why appreciate mothers once a year, fathers once a year, why give thanks once a year, why appreciate yourself(bday) once a year? Could go on. Fact is, none of this is true, but it is true that the particular day set aside makes things a little more special. It's a spice in life. Some people like the addition, some people don't, but it's there when you want it.
