Yes he did, in the show spinoff episode it said he was killed off, and in many graveyard scenes his name is on one of the graves.

EDIT: i also remember he was killed off because Matt Groening didnt like the character itself.

in the last side show bob eppisode where he tried to kill both bart and krusty by hypnotising bart. After that all happened they used a guilotine and bob was saying that isn't there normally an apeall. Tell me im not the only one who remembers that!
