I don't see what the deal is with forcing sealed off sections for these games, other than forcing all the game stores to rearrange.
And what about Best Buy and similar stores? I don't see how they can have a section sealed off just for these games, and if they make a law wouldn't those stores apply as well, as would other electronics stores which aren't exactly devoted to games? To my understanding this would be an unnecessary hassle.

We have too many violent little children around here swining punches at each other, swearing at the age of six. These "violent games" Are more than likely to have other things too. Like substance abuse. If you put drugs and alcohol into a game that makes that person look really "cool" and kickass, then serve it to a six year old on a silver platter, hell yeah! They're gonna use drugs and alcohol at near that age too! Don't doubt it, it -is- the truth.

Btw, a fake ID will get you in, anyway.
I'm not using drugs, and I can't remember seeing alcohol much in video games, but I drink that. I don't walk out onto the street, hop in the car, run down everyone I see, and shoot the ones I miss with an uzi, though.

Meh, most kids don't learn that stuff from video games, they learn it from creepy friends of older brothers, and odd people at school.

Making a sealed off section of every game store would just annoy everyone involved, since legally a store cannot sell a mature game to a minor anyway without an adult with him/her. It is just completely impractical and doesn't achieve anything that is not already in place.

I don't see the big deal, really. I mean sure, there are games that do cross the line with violence; Manhunt (especially), the GTA series state of emergency are a few of the most violent games I own, and yes, I think that they're too violent for younger kids. But even with the adult rating and if there was a seperate section, kids would still find a way to play them.
I agree with Cspace, it'd be an unnecessary hassle.

Dude, the parents have that ayway.
But it's a good idea, and I'm with Base in hoping this will spread to other states.
No, kids that are six shouldn't play gta ( i did though hehehe)

Though it's a sad fact that there are people out there who are that mentally unsettled that they can be so easily influenced by video games.
However, I don't think creating a separate section for these games will solve the problem. TV & movies will be just as much of as influence, and usually the people that do it are suffering from some sort of depression for certain reasons.
I think America needs to set it's priorities straight. Fix your screwed up gun laws before worrying about video games

After the movie Superman came out some people jumped off roofs and things because they thought they could fly, hehe. As you said there are many influences other than video games, and to blame video games for violence like some people do is kinda naive.

Makes sense. I'd go with that. Hopefully this will keep kids from getting the "wrong idea" about the difference of virtual reality and reality itself.

They aren't kidding when they put mature on games like GTA and Halo 2 for VIOLENCE AND LANGUAGE...If it's rated M, it's gonna have violence and mature language.
Same thing with movies, They're rated R for a reason, or PG-13. At the bottom, it'll say, R, violence, adult language, whatever. They're not kidding...Kids shouldn't watch those films/ play those games if they're not emotionally ready.
