A few weeks back, someone from the police dept. came to our house and asked if they could have a nationwide CounterStrike tournament in our club room.
(We run an RV business and we have a room that will hold well over 100 people)
They started arriving last night, and got their computers all set up, we had a bit of a misunderstanding with our ISP, on how we'd have all the computers networked to the internet in an room that had no internet access...
As of now, there are now 60+ people playing CounterStrike 24 hours a day, and this tournament will go on for another 2 days I believe. I'll get some pics if I can. Hehehe

Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.

I'm pretty sure there's a cash prize involved.. I don't know the amount right now, but I'll ask my parents about it.
Their paying us $500 USD to use our room, and right now, we have people from Michigan, California, Texas, and.. Someone from NC I think....
Next year, we have someone scheduled to come in from Britain and Australia.
And a majority of the people playing are police themselves. But there are some people my age.
Edit: I asked my parents, there is no prize. XD Just being able to play against people.

People from Cape Cod, Southern Florida, but mostly people from Texas.
I went down to check out the comps, and their all overly 1337.

I know some people that had a LAN gaming event that had about 250 people. People come from all over canada for it They get sponsored by companies like EA Games. The prize for this was that the winners got fed to the canadian national team. That team then travels the world against other countries elite gamers.
The first tourney that these guys had, Manitoba Hydro showed up and asked what the hell they were doing that they were using so much power. I imagine that 250 monitors and 250 computers uses a lot of power.

Well, we had an estimate from our power company that running 60 computers would take about as much power to run six refridgerators (sp?)
I didn't have a chance to take any pictures, I left this morning to go to a mud racing competition, and they were all gone when I came home...
But! Here's a link our newspaper posted.
Linkage.
I'll get pictures next year.

I don't mudrace either. I just go to see the trucks. I will mudrace in the next few weeks, though.
(Rest of the people there are nothing but rednecks.)
