so? Your showing my exact point, they make you happy so it's ok with you...selfishness
{lang:macro__view_post}

So when I go to the cinema, I'm being selfish? I spend some money on making myself happy, when the same money could have been used to give some poor kid in Africa a meal? Man, I'm going straight to hell, considering all the times I've gone to the cinema.

If being gay is not genetic, then why would someone decide to lead a life where they are discriminated against?

mobster101 just stop. by using the bible you're helping to degrade it.

first of all, all those hardcore anti-Christians think they're so reasonable and impartial compared to the hotheaded, firebrand "hillbilly" Christians. obviously, these anti-Christians are blinded by their own prejudices against Christians. first of all, they should know that many of the books in the bible, ESPECIALLY the old testament from which they derive their arguments, were written by Jewish authors. They obviously wouldnt say something like "so we went in and killed all the women and children and raped the virgins" so they used God as an excuse. now it looked something like "therefore God gave victory to us and commanded us to kill all the women and children and rape the virgins, and so we were compelled to do so." i am Christian, but i understand that the bible, especially the old testament, coming from an israelite background, uses God as a defense to justify the condemnable acts that went on (i'm not saying anything against Jewish people; it's just that the nature of people makes it so that they won't condemn themselves, for example the Fifth Amendment). it's not that we aren't aware of the atrocities committed that the bible seemingly credits God with; it's that we can see past the text and realize that there may be a bit of human nature entangled within the bible. let me emphasize this point: while it is true that many die-hard Christians are hillbillies, poorly educated, and ignorant, not all Christians are so, and being anti-Christian does not make you cool or smart.

as for my view on homosexuals, Nighthawk551's first post could not have expressed it better. i proudly announce that i dislike gays, and while the rainbow-paraders argue that the country is trying to force its views on them, they are doing the exact same thing; what if we choose not to accept gays as valid marriage candidates? America's based on popular view, buddy. What the majority says, goes. and surveys have shown that while most people in America favor gay rights, 75% opposes gay marriage. regardless of what their motivation may be, America is obligated to follow the majority, which in this case, says *Curse Removed* GAY MARRIAGE.

EDIT: i just wanted to say, for those legitimate atheists out there (those who choose not to believe in a higher being, or harbor resentment toward who they view as God), i'm not insulting you. i'm insulting those who think it's cool to oppose God because their friends do it.

*Curse removed by Base. This directly implies the F word by going around the word filter*

actually, i have no idea. there is no rational reason behind my dislike of homosexuals and their marriage; i just don't like it. the point is, 75% of the US also decides that it doesnt like the idea of gay marriage. so what if it may be unfounded? unless you can change what 3/4ths of the country believes, popular sovereignty is obligated to see that gay marriage isnt legalized.

EDIT: and how does opposing your view make an argument not articulate?

That would be 100% wrong, if you want to play with numbers. It seems you are the ignorant one since I don't see how 75% of the country can oppose something that hasn't been voted on by the population. Whatever_anim.gif

Plus, I know some people who are poorly educated and ignorant, I'm responding to one grnwink.gif - Bolded to get my point across.

by poorly educated and ignorant, i'm talking about the southern rural regions and the midwestern regions of the country. surely those who refuse to believe in evolution simply because it is out of line with a text that is not meant for literal translation, and still hang up Confederate flags up, can be considered ignorant? of course, i'm not referring to ALL of those people as ignorant. just the ones that possess characteristics like the ones mentioned above.

and if you're refuting my point that the majority of Americans do oppose gay marriage, i re-checked my facts, and it turns out according to polls (like the ones in this very forum, Baseball - it turns out that it's a good way to measure public opinions on issues that have not yet been voted on) conducted by CNN, USA Today, and Gallup, 68% of Americans do, in fact, oppose gay marriage. so yeah, i was 7% off - big deal, it's still the majority.

UHHHHH...dude thats just steriotipical and foolish. My mother is from a very rule area in the south, does that make her stupid? no, I live in the south, Have you ever been here? No, of course not. You (like so many others) base that were dumb rednecks down here and have sex with our sisters. IT"S NOT THAT WAY. You are talking about steriotipical outlooks on southerners. I could say, "every one from up north are popus, rich, stuck up people." Becaused that can be a steriotipe.

So everyone in the Mid West and "southern regions" are poorly educated and ignorant? I can only laugh at that.

Also, the whole country doesn't vote in your little polls, so it can't represent the whole country. You can never trust online polls, but of course the media wants you to...

Just stop calling everyone ignorant and poorly educated, that argument won't fly here. I'm from Illinois, lived there until I was 18. I'm very educated (BA from University of Miami) and I also live in a "southern region", Florida. Not sure how I would be put into that stereotype you claim is true, but whatever... Whatever_anim.gif
