What if we made SeeDbucks real?

SeeD's could buy services from each other without having to pay in RS or anything.

For every 10-ish posts, you make a SeeDbuck. SeeDbucks can be awarded as prizes for competitions, or good deeds in SeeD.

I know for a fact its possible, I can even give Scpacey the code if he needs it.

This needs to be developed a little, but it could work.

'Tis a good idea, though, unfortunately, I would own.

It isn't really practical, though, awarding SeeDBucks here and there for post counts, having ginormous advantages of members who've been here longer. And even then, unless it was just really silly things to earn.

and they gain a seed buck for...doing something helpful without asking for something? like if someone needs help and you give them advice\help, whoever helps gets a buck

Yea. Screw post counts, we could do them as awards.

When a SeeD does a uber good deed, the Smods and admins give him a SeeDbuvk award.

When somebody is making a competition, the owner could ask one of the admins of they could award the winner some SeeDbucks (but it has to be a reasonable competition).

Hmmm... Sounds a fair bit like the SeeD Rank system we've already got, where Admins can award ranks to those that do good deeds.

Good idea, but I think it'd get confusing if we had two things essentially doing the same purpose.

Reminds me of those ribbons. Unfortunately this would probably get too confusing and likely die out like several other things in the past. Maybe if you changedit around to something that was given to members and that's it, no more continuance, no more giving away and building of it or whatever, like a medal or something. It's just an inconvenience for SeeDs to keep track of things like that. It's not meant to be, yet it ends up being that way which really stinks. Maybe in the future when we have our own forums bots that automatically take care of it.

Doesn't serve a point just like the Rank system. They are basically brownie points with no importance at all, no need to have two systems like that. Nobody awards SeeD ranks except for the first day they were out to transfer emblems, which also wasn't a fair exchange. I've yet to see anyone gain a SeeD Rank for contributions after the first of the emblem transfers was made (and there have plenty of major contributions made). I couldn't see them awarding SeeD bucks either.

I'm aware there probably needs to be a more structured approach to Ranks being handed out. Although I think you're being a little overly cynical Base. Cspace has been doing his disappearing experiment thing, and Star and MoS both had finals. We've had very little admin supervision at all, it's more to do with that than them just not giving out ranks.

Perhaps the system should be that Mods/Smods/Gmods PM an admin when they see something they think worthy of a rank promotion, or just any general trends of who deserves one. It's a bit much to expect the admins to notice everything, but if the mod team did the spotting and left the final decision up to them, things might work more efficiently.

Right now the rank system is mainly just for meetings when we decide to hold them, but when factions get off the ground the rank system (if continued) will be our inter-faction ranking system. This purpose obviously isn't visible right now but it will be when the need arises.

There was no conversion equation, I took into account emblems as well as other things when determining the initial ranks.

There have been some given out. A few were mixed into a later mass promotion and a few gained ranks for other things. It wasn't one update and a mess of ranks at once, there were two or three mass promotions over different reasons. Then a couple other promotions were given.

I think some are looking at the rank scale differently than it is intended. It is being compared to Emblems most likely, which were relatively easy to get. The scale we're using for these ranks is much smaller and of increasing significance.

It is like SeeD's system in RS. Commander to Captain to General to Elite General. The same scale, although not finite and with no names (so it won't conflict with factions). It is also not explicitly transactional. Saying "you do this, you'll get a rank promotion" is the same as saying "you do this and you'll be made a general". Unfortunately things need to be a little more complex than that. While direct contributions would influence promotions, they would not be the entire basis of them.

The ranks aren't points or a score, they should be thought of in a similar manner to the RS faction ranks. Just inter-faction.

Anyways, I remember suggesting this "dollar" thing a loooong time ago. I first saw it on an Xbox Forum I used to go on; the dollars were based on post count, i.e. 10 dollars/points for a post. (This would persuade spamming I think.)

With the points, they could buy fonts and etc... for their sigs, it seemed a like a good idea at the time, I thought, but now I don't think I'd like it. Like I said before, it would persuade spamming and useless posts.
