Todays updates introduce a number of tweaks to the RuneCrafting skill.
Firstly we have introduced a new craftable tiara, which can be combined with any Rune Talisman of your choice to create an enchanted Tiara that can be worn in your helmet slot, and which will allow you to enter the appropriate temple simply by left clicking on it, rather than the normal method of using a talisman on the temple.

Tiaras to get to the temples currently accessible by free players are all available to make on free worlds. Tiaras can be made using silver bars with a furnace and a Tiara mould (which are available from crafting stores) and are made using the crafting skill.

Secondly, we have introduced a number of new "combination runes" for members, that can only be obtained by RuneCrafting existing runes together at Rune altars. More details on how to do this are available on our manual page for RuneCrafting.

As this is a process that can involve failure in producing runes, we have also added a new type of necklace (the necklace of binding) which can be made by enchanting an emerald necklace and will allow a perfect binding rate for a limited number of uses.

Finally, we have added a Zamorakian mage to the members worlds who will assist RuneCrafters who have done the Rune Mysteries Quest with a potentially dangerous, yet also potentially faster method of RuneCrafting, but you might first have to do a little favour for him...

This Zamorak Mage can be found by the mouth of the river just North of Edgeville, and also functions as an 'emergency' rune shop for those uninterested in RuneCrafting.

Other Game Tweaks

Castle wars has been altered so that players cannot take ANYTHING into the game that is not:


a) Wearable.
b) A potion.
c) A rune.
Players are reminded that stocks of bandages etc are stored in the castles storeroom.

It is now also impossible to cast the alchemy spells in the castlewars area.

We have also changed the behaviour of Paladins so that they should now be more aware of players thieving from various stalls nearby.

13th June 2005 - Rune Shop Changes

We noticed that rune shops were restocking very slowly, so it was difficult to buy runes from them except immediately after the worlds had been rebooted.
We have therefore increased the respawn rate of the shops so that people have a better chance to buy runes from them at any time. This means we have been able to decrease the number of runes in a shop straight after reboot, yet overall have significantly more runes entering the game via shops.

Now runes will be much more fairly distributed amongst people who like to play at different times of day. Since this means that there will now be considerably more runes entering the game through the shops, we have increased the shop prices of the runes to be closer to the prices players generally charge for them.

They finnaly got around to changing that too. 'Cept they took the credit for it again, even though hundreds of players have told them about it.

And about the tiara's and stuff:

Combination Runes
RuneCrafters can also create runes not available elsewhere, known as combination runes. These runes are the equivalent of two different elemental runes, and will count as one of each when spellcasting, but will only take up one space of inventory room.

To create Combination runes, you must take rune essence, a talisman of one of the component runes and a supply of the component runes of the same type to the temple of the opposite component rune you wish to bind.

As an example, if you wish to create Mist Runes you will need to bring water runes, rune essences and a water talisman to the air temple.

You may also bring Air runes, an Air Talisman and rune essences to the Water temple.

Both methods will create Mist runes by combining the essences and runes in your inventory along with the talisman.

Combining runes has a fifty-fifty chance of success at any given level of RuneCrafting. Players can increase this success rate to a hundred percent by wearing a Necklace of Binding which will allow a certain number of combination runes to be crafted with a perfect success rate, but will be destroyed when that number has been reached.


Elemental Tiaras
Once you have discovered a talisman for a particular temple, you may wish to enchant a tiara to allow quicker access to the rune temples. When wearing an enchanted tiara, you may enter the appropriate rune temples simply by clicking on the temple ruins, instead of using the talisman on the temple to gain entrance. This is not only slightly quicker, but also allows you to use an extra inventory space while crafting runes.

Tiaras can be made by using the crafting skill by using silver at a furnace with the appropriate mould. Tiara moulds are available to purchase at crafting stores.

To enchant tiaras, simply take them along with the talisman you wish to bind into the tiara to the appropriate temple.

For example, to make an enchanted Air Tiara, take an unenchanted tiara and an Air talisman to the Air temple.

Uh, can you rc fire+air runes? If so, what are the runes called, and.. i assume you can make them by bringing fire runes, essence and a fire tally to air altar.. right?

I just took a trip around the (RS) world with JGJ and Leftyy to collect tiaras. Lessons learned:

-You still need the talismans if you want to make combo runes -- and apparently they (the talismans) get eaten...?
-Don't expect to make a Cosmic tiara if you're traveling with one guy who doesn't care and another who's going back to F2P.
-Ignore any people who randomly ask you about the band "My Chemical Romance." When they start telling you about their favorite songs, just leave. If they yell "great talk! I'll send you an email!" at you as you flee to safety, just put it out of your mind. They don't know your address.
-Janey is cool and gives people Earth tallys, silver, and moulds. ;-P
