Also, this year, there's something special about it: Each player is from a different nation. There's USA, Canada, Venezuela, Panama, Korea, the Netherlands, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico.
But, well, that's not the point. I was just watching it while I was exercising, and man, was that incredible. In the first round... the first batter of the whole derby was Bobby Abreau. He's the Venezuelan representative... from my home team and my favorite team, the Philadelphia Phillies.
Now, let me fill you in on two things. One: the record for the most home runs in a round is 15, by Miguel Tejada of the Baltimore Orioles, set in 2004. Also, the record for the longest home run hit in a home run derby is 624 feet, by Sammy Sosa, formerly of the Chicago Cubs, in 2002.
Well, something amazing happened. Bobby Abreau... the first hitter... of Venezuela, and the Philadelphia Phillies... hit 24 home runs. Let me put this is my perspective: Holy. ****. I WAS GOING BANANAS!!!
WOOOOOOOOOOOO! GOOO BOBBY!
