A few SMods went inactive and we had to remove their positions for the time being, so that opened some spots up. We could also use a couple more for increased coverage, having at least one on at most times would increase efficiency and allow situations to be handled more quickly. While no one should expect them to always be on the moment they need one, they are going to more likely be there when they're needed. With some examples in the past, having this coverage is probably necessary. It also doesn't really hurt, I don't think there's much doubt that they are capable. When activity increases, the number also won't seem quite as high as some are thinking.
