I found... uh... my house... other random Monterey-ish things... Cspace's house... Disneyland...

I'm not able to find the bullseye, do you know coordinates or how did you search it?

37°33'49'' North, 116°51'03'' West should be it

I'm guessing that that's what it is and that the light spots are from guns of some sort, but I could be wrong.

how do i find area 51? i searched it and got like nothing. and also that nevbada test site thing.

Yeah, the search won't find Area 51. You can find it in the Keyhole Community BBS layer, just check Earth Browsing and look around Nevada a little bit. It's kinda hard to miss, hehe, there is a pile of points there where people are guessing what the buildings are.

The test site, or so I think it is, is around the above coordinates.

Okay... I just got this, so I'm having trouble inputting coordinates, getting anywhere near good pictures on stuff, etc.

The coordinates are basically on an x-y axis, not exactly sure how to search for them but you can move the cursor around to narrow it down. The coordinates of the cursor would display at the lower left of the map.

To have some stuff labeled, in the 'Layers' box, hit the "Keyhole Community BBS' arrow and then check what you want to see. There is a mess of stuff under 'Earth Browsing', for that just check the box and zoom in a little. The closer in you are the more points will pop up, but it'll take a little looking in a general area if you're searching for something specific.

How can people see the cracks on their driveways? eek7.gif When I get to around 200-500 feet up it stops getting clearer as I zoom in. Personally, when looking at my house, it's far above the roof when it stops.

Dunno if this means your dogs are supernatural... or if it was just great timing to catch them in the screen shot sing.gif

Q and A from the site
Are Google Earth images captured in real time?

No, they aren't. Our images are photographs taken by satellites and aircraft sometime in the last three years.

Now has a nice new shiny computer, now all i need is my mos back.

Depends on where you live... if you're out in the middle of nowhere it's insanely low-res; if you're in a big city you get tons of detail. (I think Cspace said San Diego is the most detailed.)

I've found Miami, San Diego, Chicago, St. Louis, and New York to be the best detailed cities thumb.gif

Well, it was the most detailed when I used Keyhole, but after looking around a little more I think they got some new images of certain cities. Don't think any places are more detailed than San Diego yet, but I could be wrong.

(The reason is because I think that's where Keyhole was originally based, and they paid someone to get high res shots of their area to show off)

The places Base listed are definitely among the most detailed atm, but I think they all currently have about the same resolution.

The Nevada test sites are very cool. The easiest way to find Area 51 (I think) is to search for "Groom Lake". Area 51 is to the west of it.

^^ Area 51 and some coordinates at the bottom ^^

The resolution is actually pretty good, I'm just posting one pic atm but you can zoom in a bit if you look at it in the program.

lol... it's extremely blurry. bluetongue.gif

Basically because the people who did Google Earth didn't bother to make everything more focused in places in New Zealand. So my house is somewhere in that general area...

Oh I found my school. And the lake... hehe that wasn't hard to spot. I wish New Zealand at least had buildings as clear as places in Melbourne, Australia.

^^ Thanks Ayumi, you rock!! ^^
