...funny, you had no answer to the question of your aptitude bluetongue.gif jk.

any ways I know that ess is 40 each..but there are people buying it for as low as 20(and worse yet people selling it for that). and in reality I had only found two people willing to buy ess for that price in game. also these people only bought for as long as they could afford it. they probably expected 500 here or there. when I come at them two hours later with 5k they are tripping over them selves to see how they can afford it all(it never occurs to them that they could just buy out of it only what they need lol).

the only place I can continuesly find buyers at that price is somewhere like tip it. and I dont feel like waiting a few hours for an answer and a day or two to actualy meet up ingame to make the sale. alot of people given the time on there hands opt to buy and sell for 20-30 each. rather then wait for top dollar. the point is some people mess them selves when I say 40 each while others (whilst they might put up a bit of a fuss) pay up readily. what I am saying is that it is all perspective.

you regard black t as junk you dont need rite? well its a 'one mans trash is anothers treasure thing'.

that newb was ripped for the greater balance of things...I said it before how many more time would he have goten ripped off even within two hours had he around 200k on him rather then the 10k he got? alot I would wager.

ripped off once or tens' of times?
getting himself a new suit...or encouraging others (through his ignorance) to take advantage more often....a newb with alot of money can be a dangerous thing.

the point is he did get alot less then he could have but in the end both parties made out pretty well off(or for the best rather). It was not scamming. and even if you dont find it even slightly humorous, none of you have the rite to chastise me for not jumping in like super man or something.

most my knowledge is after the fact...the only intervention I could have done would be to tell him he got ripped...that would not have helped anyone.

the more involved you let your self become the harder it is to get out again...say I jumped in and was able to give him a fair price(this was not really a possibility). then I would have to hold his hand all around rs to show him how to properly spend the money. how to not spend all of it, and what things are worth.

any of you wana tell someone fresh off toutorial island (asuming he was) about every aspect of game play to the point where you have no time to play your self cuase ur spending it all looking out for a lucky noob? who wants that job?

I was a spectator in all of this with my own things to do...I found it funny(and yes I see what your saying but I think your a little to high on that horse of morality) and none of you (in my opinion) can see my side of it and laugh with me even a little for what part is definable as humorous. None here is above this my self included(though I would never cliam to be)....it is human nature and its a little stuck up and pesimistic of you all to focus on the potential down side of things. rather then take it for what it was meant to be... a funny story, and a bit of a joke on myself(though you have managed to make it into that for me any way).

You type to much o.0

Use the forums to get buyers.. people buy 30k + amounts (sometimes up to 100k) for 40 each easy. You cant post on them but you can see whos buying.

And no, plenty of times ive said "dont listen to his price hes lying" or something like that, the person in question then listens to me, acknowledges it, and leaves saying thanks or something.

Not once in my rs career, spanning many accounts and years, have i had to tell a player how much EVERY item is because at one point i said "Its worth more than hes saying" ill get the occasional friend asking if a trades worth it, but never what your trying to say will happen if you for once help out the little guy.

it's ironic that it should be you, Xemem, who is calling into question our ability to understand.

let's try to get at the core of each thesis paper you typed out, shall we?
first, you cite hypothetical reasons for why you did not stop the scam in progress.
QUOTE
how does any one know that isnt the case? and lets say it was a guy fresh off toutorial island. first he gets a suit of full armour that looks pretty good and then 10k for it...thats alot in the world of a newb. heck much more and he wouldn't know what to do with it. lets say the guy gave him a good price of about 250k (they range from about 250k-350k depending). then you have something really dangerous in the game...a rich person who doesn't know the value of things lol.

maybe he would go buy a gold necklass and full steel for 40k...meat for 10k, and a pink skirt for 15k to top it off? how does that effect the perspective on value(spreading that much cash around so poorly) amongst other noobs? how many more times would he be ripped off in the course of even 2 hours with that much money?
so, either based on a hunch that this "noob" had a rich main account, or he would go spray his money around if he had gotten a fair deal, you decided not to stop it. except, this newbie really wouldn't have gotten ripped off if he actually had a rich main account, since he wouldnt be much of a newbie. so much for the first theory. the second theory is a valid argument, if only you'd stuck with it.

QUOTE
well what if later in life this man has a child that grows up to be the best leader any one has ever seen. or if one of those kids is the next jeffrey dohmer. but these are not things we can weigh...and this is not a situation that any of us will liekly ever be in. all we can do is work with what we know. and know that the best thing is not always the rite thing nor is the worste thing always the wrong thing...basicaly we can only do what we can and hope for the best...hope. the greatest of pandoras' evils contained in her jar(it was actualy a jar and not a box) and left their for people to use or not use as they see fit.
in here, you state that the best we could do is to do the right thing at the moment, regardless of how it affects later events, because we can't forsee the future. then, shouldn't you have done the right thing by stopping that scam in progress, whether or not that there was a possibility of that newbie getting ripped off later? i mean, i can almost see how you think a newbie will be worse off with 340k gold more than he actually got, but regardless, the right thing at that moment was to stop him from getting ripped off.

QUOTE
and it was not really a scam. that stuff was all but useless to that newb(he could probably be in mith). he was dam happy with how much he got(telling him it was less then he could have would not help any). and the player got a good deal and wat is considerd to be a mark of moderate wealth (it does state that you have a little extra cash to through around lol).
so people in third world countries earning about 5 cents a week for around-the-clock sweatshop working shouldn't be helped because they're happy with the fact that they're earning money? whether it can be called a scam or not is in the wording; a scam and a ripoff is the same in principle - you're cheating someone out of his or her rightful amount of money.

if it truely were our actions that define us then actors and athletes wouldn't be our icons it would be summits, congress', and city planning meetings we would line up to buy tickets for.
w.t.f.?

i've already addressed this, but i feel that the sheer hypocrisy of this argument merits another counterpoint. who are you to say that it's for the "greater balance of things?" the end result is, the newbie made off with 10k instead of the 350k he should have made off with, and an unscrupulous player was rewarded for trickery. now, the newbie could have gone off with that 350k and spent it on all the wrong things. so what? it's his money. and it's not like his doing that will have catastrophic consequences on the RS economy. however, it's not an option anymore - that option was denied to him when he made the trade for 10k. and if you so feared that this newb would be taken advantage of, and somehow that really would wreak havoc (not reap havock) on the economy, you could have told him something like, "be sure not to trade anything away or buy anything until you're absolutely sure of its price - people will try their best to rip you off," and 99 times out of 100, that advice would have been enough to guard him against any future mistakes.

QUOTE
most my knowledge is after the fact...the only intervention I could have done would be to tell him he got ripped...that would not have helped anyone.
yet in your very first post, you say that "this guy was talkin to him and I could tell about a miniute into the convo that the 13 was definately a noob(as apposed to some one who didnt even look at combat till they saved up the 300k or so it takes to get that sorta get up).

Something was sort of making the air smell soooooo sweet. I knew a great deal was comming to some one in the next min or so. the vibe was just pouring off this guy that was chatting with the lvl 13 in full black.

I pmed him, to let him know that I knew that he was gana get the best of deals in a momenmt or two....im sure a few of you know that feeling eh? when you just know its comming?
"
you knew he was getting ripped off before it actually happened.

if i skipped over any of your points, it was because it was either irrelevant or previously addressed.

so, in a thesis of my own, i've summed up your arguments and provided my counterarguments.
and despite the fact that none of us are perfect and no one has the right to demand that you be perfect, i think that plainly watching a newbie get ripped off and not stopping it, then inviting the opinions of others by publicizing this event and your glee at watching it happen, merits some sort of negative feedback?
