What's with those scientists making all these odd molecular things. bluetongue.gif

Also listed on that page are the world's smallest car (which I posted a little bit ago), the world's smallest motor, the world's smallest robot, the world's smallest fountain pen... And the world's smallest refrigerator. eek7.gif

What will be next? ShiftyEyes_anim.gif

I'd like to see the world's smallest backscratcher that works. Yep, that's just me. Suave_anim.gif I have no idea what a bipedal molecule is though, I don't even know what a unipedal molecule is. bluetongue.gif

Bipedal means that it walks on two legs, hehe, it apparently moves around roughly like a human walks (as much as a molecule can bluetongue.gif ).

bipedal does indeed mean that we walk around on two legs, the same as four legged animals are called tetrapods ('bi' means two, 'tetra' means four).

why in the world scientists are wasting time and effort making things like that when they can be doing things like finding cures for as-yet uncurable diseases is beyond me.

Feed the plushie!
(Rayquaza plushie? WTF? It doesn't look anything like the other plushies!)

Through our bleeding we are one.

If it weren't for some failed unrelated experiments, we wouldn't have antibiotics to begin with (at least at the time when we figured it out). bluetongue.gif

Every science is of relatively equal importance. Focusing on one field alone will blind us to many other things, and in many ways they are inter-related. Also, not all scientists can work on the same fields, since they specialize in different areas. I wouldn't want an astrophysicist working on cures for diseases (for example), because it would probably involve fire and projectiles. arcadefreak.gif

When it comes to nano-robotics and this sort of thing with engineering molecules, the first thing that comes to my mind is medicine actually, because many predict that they will be used in the future to keep people healthy in many ways. Going through the blood stream, taking care of clots, and other stuff along those lines. In the process of developing this technology there are many steps, and these seemingly random creations are actually experiments to see what is possible with our current understanding and where this technology can go.

Yes, they may be forerunners for future micro-healing robots TheSmile.gif .
