Seed On Curvedspace? Just another possible idea for the site

Hey there, I was just working on CurvedSpace (www.cspacezone.com) when something came to my mind... What if SeeD became a direct part of CurvedSpace instead of its own standalone site? Before you start replying though, please consider the following (feel like Bill Nye or something):

- More features on one site. Suddenly game cheats, webmaster help, a general chat room, jokes, and other things will be directly connected to SeeD.

- Nothing will be lost, there will just be a link to SeeD and EVERYTHING will be there (the links won't all be at the bottom or something, the SeeD links will replace the CurvedSpace links when the "SeeD" link is clicked). It will basically be like a subsite of CurvedSpace with a similar design. The URL seed.cspacezone.com will directly link to the SeeD section as well, so you don't have to go through CurvedSpace to get there.

- It will be much easier to update both sites if they both are technically one. This means that when CurvedSpace or SeeD is updated, it is likely that the other will be as well.

- Creative submissions (poems, stories, etc.) can easily be placed on CurvedSpace so even more visitors can view your work!

- Online game competitions (all online games, like Warcraft and fantasy sports, for example) would be easier to schedule since more would be visiting the site and are therefore capable of participating.

- Webmaster help would be right there for everyone working on sites (including Garden sites).

- The layout can easily be edited to provide a nice SeeD look for our new layout (I'll change the images and everything for the SeeD section).

- More publicity, since a number of visitors to CurvedSpace find it through searching for Runescape things (darn Google bots, hehe).

- Both sites will suddenly seem double their size. bluetongue.gif

- Nothing on the forums or member list will be lost, we would just add another link to them (incase some were afraid of that for some reason).

Well, the only real negative factor that I could think of is that SeeD will look a bit like CurvedSpace (hehe, well, negative to those who would like a separate site appearance). But it will still feel like its own site since seed.cspacezone.com will link directly to the SeeD section, with only a couple CurvedSpace-related links (again, the CurvedSpace links will be replaced by SeeD links).

Please post your comments about this. I am not positive that this will be done, but I feel that it will be a huge improvement to both sites.

Hmmm... SeeD merging with CurvedSpace....

It sounds like a great idea! biglaugh.gif I really like the way you think grnwink.gif

We'd probably be dividing the site into the two sections, SeeD and CurvedSpace. It might get a bit cluttered if we didn't.

great idea i think this will maybe get more people to join runescape and hopefully also join seed!

It's a good idea.

Would the site still work the same if I typed in seed.cpacezone.com? Or would I have to go to Curved Space. Just wondering if the address in the bar would change.

SeeD will have its own edited version of the CurvedSpace layout and a few links from CurvedSpace. It will basically be its own site within CurvedSpace with its own links.

If Google still links to CurvedSpace by searching for a few Runescape-related keywords, I'm sure that some new members will reach SeeD through CurvedSpace.

Either way. If you would like to go through CurvedSpace to get to SeeD, go right ahead (a link to the forums, member list, and site will be provided there). If you would like to go directly to SeeD, just type in seed.cspacezone.com! TheSmile.gif

Hey, just one question. . . we're keeping the forums seperate, right? 'Cause Curvedspace's is like a ghost town nowadays.

Good idea Cspace. CurvedSpace has been "silent" and so has its forums. It'll be great once more people start getting in there and checking it out. I think the Jokes section is one of the best sections. biglaugh.gif

I wasn't planning on doing anything involving the merger of both forums, but it could be possible if everyone likes (I'm 50-50 about that). While the forums will lose their SeeD motif, both will be updated quicker (because I would only have one to work on). If we do something with the forums, it will come after the combination of both sites.

Just note that all of the SeeD-related forums will be moved to the bottom of the list (above Hosted Forums), though the other forums will have more users. When both sites are joined, the CurvedSpace Forums will probably not improve much unless the two forums join since the two forums have very similar topics (excluding the SeeD-related forums).

But... now that I think about it, having two forums joined together would greatly improve traffic and the amount of use of our services (I can guarantee more growth, since a number just come to the Cspace forums and leave due to inactivity). Nothing would be lost, I would probably change these forums into the CurvedSpace forums due to the larger number of users. For this reason, I may seriously consider joining the two forums as well, but I can't really think like a member and I don't know what everyone would think. So please post input about this as well. grnwink.gif
