USA will occupy, get thumped by a resistance and by the people back in the US, then leave when there's no oil left

USA would have two options. They could either lose, or commit genocide and kill every non-American in the middle east. That would be the only option if we wanted to win the war, because resistance fighters are so much pain. Kill everyone and the underground resistance fighters have no one to blend in with, and can be identified and killed infinietly easier.
