I cannot be banned for this. In Cspace's own words, "...Not the only [name] on the internet. I can choose this name.
If you ban me, you will have to ban the other person who has taken one's name.
That is all.

OMG, I actually thought it was cspace for a moment until I saw "member" 1 post.

Creating the name "Cspacẹ" to appear as "Cspace" can be looked upon as impersonation, and this is even moreso when profile settings are obviously taken to increase that effect.
If I changed my username, and someone took "Cspace", that's my problem.
If someone registers as "Dspace", I wouldn't care.
Registering a second name that is visibly identical or extremely close to a current member, though, is in the gray area. Creating names like Cspacẹ and Star_Jedi (as examples) can force change to be made.
One specific reason is common implementation in phishing. What if someone used a Cspacẹ account to fool members into providing forum passwords or something via PM?
Another reason is for harming the reputation of someone a person dislikes. It happens on many chats on the internet, and it also sometimes happens on forums. Therefore it is a legitimate concern.
There is also an undeniable element of antagonizing someone when done to that extent.

When it comes to the situation that sparked this thread, we can't hold names from which members change. While I may not agree with the exact circumstances of the change, "Kaiser" is a common alias on the internet. I even think Crescens went by a Kaiser name at one time or another here. Icarus' AIM screen name also includes "Kaiser". "Kaiser" often is referred to as "emperor" or "king" which is why it's not uncommon. Was there a problem with Alpha, Alpha Weapon, and Alpha-Weltall? Was there a problem when "Alpha" registered under a name "Alpha Weapon" once had? What about certain accounts with popular characters such as Link, Sephiroth, and Legolas? They're common on many communities and people don't complain. What about the two members here who both are known as "Big"? What about confusion between Darkness and Darkdream?
There are too many circumstances, and enforcing that one circumstance to which you're referring will require that we do something about them all, and that is beyond logical reason.

What if Icarus (with the name kaiser) PMed someone about mod business, and asked for a PW? People who knew Kaiser was a mod could give it to him.

Changing ones name doesn't do anything except cause confusion. I'm not even sure why we have it. Well, with the cost of a name change at 1000, I'm sure people won't do it as often as it has been (or perhaps never again).

Well, first of all mods shouldn't be requesting passwords, if even I will never ask for one.
Second of all, we can't enforce this. What if one of our mods had the name "Legolas"? We'll just expect that no one else takes the name? When someone does take a "Legolas" name (like Legolas321), we'd force a change? What if "Legolas" changed to "Gimli"? Then someone else registers "Legolas"? What then?
When a person changes his/her name, and someone new comes and takes his/her old name... First of all, we can't expect that they knew about it. Second of all, the Name Change item isn't a "Claim A Second Name" item.
Also, if we enforced it here, I can guarantee that in the future members will get more possessive of their names. If someone registers under something similar, or registers under an older name, we would be forced to do something about it that really shouldn't be done.
I agree that the circumstances that sparked this thread were not exactly right to have been done, however there isn't anything official that can or should be done about it. If Icarus wishes to change I will send him another name change item, but we can't force it on him.
