Newbie here!...
There are things said in this thread that I felt I needed to chime in on.
What is wrong with adults enjoying runescape?? I'm 39 years of age. I found runescape about 2 months ago because my 12 year old daughter started playing it. I wanted to play it for a bit to see what she was getting into, to make sure it was a safe and acceptable game for her. And then guess what? I found that I enjoyed it. So what if there are "better" games out there? The biggest drawback to Runescape is the proliferation (look it up kiddos) of kids with snarky attitudes running around.
I wish that I had known of UFF earlier. When I was running around at a level 20 or so, scratching my head trying to solve quests it would have been nice to have someone point me the right way. I began walking and talking the UFF way before I even knew it existed. If someone needed actual help, I helped them. For free (gasp!) because I understood their frustration. I had been there. It seems that when some players reach higher stats they tend to forget what it was like being new to RS. They use the term 'Noob" as an insult and turn their noses up at lower levels. Folks, you did not start this game at a lvl130 high and mighty muckety muck! You did not come into existance knowing the lay of the land. You needed a newcomer map just like every....body....else. Bottom line - Clique-ish clans, high lvl PK'ers who think they are the reincarnation of Attila the Hun, All who use the term "Noob" insultingly, get over yourself. You're average...just like everybody else.
(I probably just painted a large target on my back. So be it.)

Lol i agree with you i may not be as old as you but everyone can play and every one started at the same level. Theres no need to call people noobs because thats like caling yorself a noob when you where at a low level. Think how it feels. I only call some one a noob if they act like a noob like runnig in attacking then running out. I usaully only us the term in the wild or when im upset.
PS: the highest level that you can get to is 126

Actual Statistic: Average age of online gamer: 30
This statement of ClownSlayer blew my mind. I realized if this were true then old dice-pencil-paper role playing games wouldn't have really died out.
So, when I looked around carefully I found a whole number of guys ranging from 30 to 60 who play the old RPG games like Advanced Dungeons and Dragons. They are right in my area too. Some of them have been playing for over 25 years.
I just started getting into these games again now. Clownslayer, thanks for pointing this statistic out. It really got me started. I am getting in with a great bunch of guys now. My oldest kid is getting into it too.
