Hello Do You Believe Society comes to accept violence in our world such as violence in sports, violence in entertainment do we as a people expect it to be natural to enjoy watching or inflicting injury upon another human physical or not physical? . Is it basic human instinct to have a want or need for violence or do we just come to accept the violence because humanity has a violent history of murdering each other over religion,money,power...... well thats all I can think of for reasons... that opens the table for debate.

Most people enjoy watching others pain, as long as it's not extreme. Like someone's elbow snapping backwards. I doubt anyone but a sadist would like that.

Yes, violence does excite the human brain. I'm sure just about everyone, whther or not they admit it, gets a thrill out of violence, danger, fear, and other such emotions. This is what it means to be human. Though, there are many instances when violence is wrong and/or inappropriate, violence in itself is not a bad thing.

Males obviously have the instinct to be excited by violence. It is the nature of a male. I cannot speak for females, as I am not one bluetongue.gif . I personally think that the issue is divided. Most people do want peace and safety. The minority of people like violence and want to continue it. When I say peaceful people, I do not mean someone such as a Buddhist monk. I mean someone like me or most of you here. Also, when I mean someone who does like violence, I do not mean a soldier or George Bush. I am referring to those that are thrilled by violence and foster these feelings, often lashing out. A sadist is a good term to describe some of these people.

i think the ancient Roman spectator sport of gladiator-ing (gladiation?) bears witness to the fact that, for a long time, humans have liked pain and violence, as long as it's not their own.

People like violence. It's exciting. From sports to video games. Most people have a limit, usually when extreme damage actually happens. But it's something to pump adrenaline and let our primitive instincts. At least now we don't go to the point we kill each other.

I <3 Violence. It's just part of my nature. What is great about violent videogames is that I can do violent things without people getting hurt. I love it!

Well for starters the human race has always loved to dominate over one another, it creates a feeling of power, hence why there has always been wars. And males liek violence, coz we like it! And that isn't a bad thing, but there is a level for all of us, for girls, it's normally lower, but as for guys, we mostly like violence, that's why guys like, violent video games and violent movies, where as girls would maybe prefer a romantic comedy etc. Violence is also a sense of showing of "how good u are" or u're manlyness, say as in a fight, or say as in a video game the will to dominate, to be the best. But since everyone has grown up with a lot of violence, it does tone down the impact it has on us, but compared to real life violence (like killing) we are still fairly peaceful human beings (we not all mass murderers in other words!)

You can't generalise an entire sex by saying they don't like violent video games or movies..

I would also like to state that violence also branches of into other human problems such as jealousy, greed and the need to overpower another and to have absolute power Wouldn't you agree?
