Well everyone, with Guild Wars: Factions looming ahead of us with just a few days to go, it's time to decide what Faction everyone wants the guild to be a part of. TheSmile.gif

Amon Abhorsen of the guild "Order of Ascendency" is the leader of a guild we most likely will have an alliance with and he was just checking to see what Faction we would be joining. It seems OoA are currently leaning towards Kurzick and he was curious to see what we were going to choose.

I would like all input on this matter as every vote counts to determine what Faction this guild will be a part of.

I am not making this a poll as people outside of the game can vote, or use multiple accounts to vote. To vote, post your view upon the matter and what Faction you like best, then I will add up the total and see the outcome. This poll is only for members of the Defenders of Aderon. grnwink.gif

Please don't just message me ingame with what you think, actually post, since I cannot always guarantee I will get your vote right and it will seem unfair to those who post if the majority of posters chose Luxon while those who voted ingame outnumbered them in terms of votes for Kurzick.

To make everything fair, just register (if you haven't already done so) and post what you think. thumb.gif

^^ Thanks Ayumi, you rock!! ^^

Hey guys! My Guildies were pestering me for an answer to this question, so I asked Tanny what he thought. Personally, I don't care much, both seem cool to me but most of my guys want in with Kurzick for whatever reason.
As an Alliance we can only join the same Faction, we can't have one Guild in each so now seems like a good time to make up our minds.

For those who have no idea what the difference between Luxon and Kurzick is, read up:

Kurzick

Personally, I really don't care, but if I had to pick one, I like the Kurzicks.

During the FPE, i spent most of my time earning Kurzick faction. Towards the end, i thought i would check out what the Luxon quests were like, and i enjoyed doing those quests alot more. I don't really mind which one we choose as i have 8000 faction for kurzick. If we choose luxon i wouldn't mind either because i seemed to enjoy doing those quests.

If i was forced to choose, Luxon gets my vote TheSmile.gif

You know I love Nikka *sniffs*... But I'm more for the Luxon's. It's hard to say though, it was just a preview...

I don't care as long as we don't create allot of enemies and create more alies than enemies.

*thinks notty is stupid*
there will be a balanced mix of guilds i prefer kurzick myself and we dont do any PvP anyway so it doesnt matter about 'making enemies'

I think Luxon would get my vote.

I know many want to get into PvP, so there's no reason why we can't if we attain a member base capable of doing it.

Indeed, a member base capable of doing it. Levels are less of a limiting factor than having enough on at once, and having a large enough member base would mean that we have enough that could spontaneously be on at the same time. Recruiting is a simple answer to this problem.

A guild of 60 with 20 active members is just as active as a guild of 20 with 100% activity. The 40 in the guild of 60 who are inactive do not decrease activity or hurt anything. If anything, those 40 are potential returning members (especially with Factions coming out). The only time they will realistically inconvenience anyone is when the guild caps out, and that's not a current issue for DoA. When it is, it can easily be solved.

The only people who would not join because of it are those who want to instantly jump into a guild with decent PvP strength or rankings, or a guild that is simply large. For them, regardless of what they may say, it's the number of active members that holds more weight, not the number of inactive members. If we're recruiting high levels to begin with, we shouldn't expect many to join. After all, those who are guildless above lvl 14 are almost certainly guildless for a reason, and they are probably the most critical when trying to send invites since they've probably already turned down many before we got to them.

It's easy to recruit for a guild like DoA as long as it is done the right way for the current situation. We don't need to be defeatist about it, this is a problem that can easily be handled.

I've explained to Jonny my thoughts and ideas about what Cspace and Moo have been discussing, and most of it follows what you all are saying. I won't go into it here or now, but if you really want to know everything I've thought of, I'll give another hour-long discussion in-game or on a messenger bluetongue.gif .

Back on topic, I personally would choose Kurzick. I have more faction points there TheSmile.gif . I like the Luxon scenery, but I vote Kurzick thumb.gif .

Generally from my times in Droks euro 1 and LA euro 1 which are the main recruitment places for higher levels they want a PvP rather than PvE guild this would require a more active time base zone.. i generally have to stay on till past 12 to see anyone.. and then a GvG takes.... a good 10 mins to 2 hours. For most people in Europe this is just too late.

Indeed, us recruiting in Drok's is about as hard as even starting a guild there from scratch. This is because they're all high levels. High levels who are guildless are guildless for a reason, for they've already had to turn down many invites for one reason or another. They will very frequently be critical of guilds and will usually only join those that are already established, unless they're working on starting one with friends.

Guild A is a new or otherwise small guild not as capable of PvP.

Guild B is a large and PvP-capable guild.

A high level player in Drok's is seeking an established guild. Which guild will he/she pick?

Obviously Guild B.

If Guild A focuses on only recruiting in Drok's, it will fail every time unless there is some other unconventional draw.

I am actually not surprised that any recruiting attempts in Drok's failed, for that reason, regardless of how hard someone tried.

However, newer players could join Guild A. As they join, activity increases. As time goes on, they get stronger. As they reach high levels, and activity reaches a certain point, the guild is PvP ready and perceived as established. Then you can recruit elsewhere. That's how to effectively build a guild in terms of recruiting.
