The Fifth Calamity came, the fifth day of the Thirteen Catastrophes.
The mist cleared from the streets, though some thought that what replaced it to be even worse. No fires would burn. The hearths stayed cold and barren. The forges were shut down, the coals might as well have been ice for all the warmth they gave. In fact, there was no heat. Even the most woolen coats seemed cold as winter. Ice appeared everywhere, snow fell from the skies. The city was buried under feet of snow. Hundreds of people died from frostbite and pneumonia that killed within hours after being caught. The only source of warmth was others' body heat.

The Seventh Calamity came, the seventh day of the Thirteen Catastrophes.
The seventh day brought a thunderstorm, the likes SeeD had never seen. The only good thing it brought was an end to the raging fires. It flooded the city with rain and hail. The ice and water pounding on the roofs and windows was almost continuous, shaking the city, destroying sleep, battering the mind. The whole land was fatigued, exhausted, and terrified. None knew the cause of their suffering, and countless yelled out to their King, Cspace, to ease their burden.
