8th Grade Graduations

What do you think of them? I saw an article about this topic in the Chicago Tribune a few days ago, and it interested me. I'm all the way against it, I despise all graduation ceremonies/ awards. I had to go to about 4 at the end of this year, and they just mess up your finals studying.
I'll keep this poll specifically on 8th grade graduation, which imo, is the most idiotic waste of time ever created.

8th grade graduation is going up to highschool, right? If it is, it's kinda silly, since they haven't even finished school yet.
And we're supposed to go to the 7th form graduation ceremony at our school, but I would rather not sit around for 2+ hours clapping occassionaly

By that standard, why have a high school graduation ceremony for the kids who are going to college?
I say, "why not?" You're leaving middle school and entering high school. It's a milestone.
(And around here we just call them "promotion" ceremonies, as you're not really graduating yet...)

Kind of obvious. If a high school graduation doesn't seem bigger than you than getting out of middle school, I don't know how to tell you....

Well at our school we did a werid one, basically all grade in the middle school are divided into 3/5 groups, depending on grade, basically because we havea huge school and they don't want to overwork the teachers all year, anyways, our group had a little graduation thing 3 weeks ago on the last day of school, and we basicall just left school, and walked to a bowling alley like 4 blocks away (yeah, about 200 kids just randomly walking out of school, pure chaos) anyways, after like 4 hours, we came back, had lunch, and got lined up in a hallway, and we had a mock graduation, basically just dumb, werid, silly awards handed out, like the best drummer, worst rapper/dancer, most likely to (blank) and whatnot, it was more or less fun, and then we just went to the football field and played smear the queer for like 4 hours 'till school ended
It's better then nothing
, plus, in our lunch, they had insane amount of food left over, so they walked around and gave us free food
, I had like 5 corndogs, kept 2 for the walk home, loads of tater-tots and french fries, and we had a chocolate milk war which basically left a 500 square foot room filled in milk
. But needless to say, I couldn't eat dinner that day
Long story short, I say the 8th Grade Graduation is pznage, why not party? Your going from the top of the school to the bottom of another, get the most out of it

That 'best drummer', 'worst rapper/dancer' thing you were talking about: we've got that in our highschool yearbook. There's like, best dressed, most likely to be president, biggest nerd, etc.
