Ooh, that sounds pretty exotic... Bring lots of sunscreen. bluetongue.gif Wouldn't want to come back all nice 'n crispy, complements of the merciless African sun. Enjoy the trip, Base!

Have fun. Keep smilin'. ^^ <3
Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position.
Such a heavy burden now to be "The One".
Born to bear and read to all the details of our ending
To write it down for all the world to see.

someone that lived in my house with my family was from Nairobi (or however you spell it) in Kenya. he arrived pretty much when my family started building a small/medium sized hovercraft to fly around the driveway. it was great fun until the skirt got scratched and it could'nt fly anymore sad.gif

Thanks a lot for the comments and support grnwink.gif

I'm leaving pretty late this evening and will arrive there tomorrow morning. My friend Matt and I decided to cut the trip in half and go twice, once now and another time in the end of July or early August. Matt is the person who started and owns the construction company and he offered me the job of his VP, so thats how I'm doing this now. Real estate and construction is something I had planned on doing way back in high school so now that is why I'm doing and will probably never stop thumb.gif

Anyways, I'm leaving and I should be back Sunday or Monday. We are delivering the donations that he and I made, plus donations of many other people and companies in the Miami area and also some people from Tampa. We were able to raise well over 4 million dollars and although the money has been wired to them (them being a couple construction companies in Africa who really need the help to keep pushing for their goal of providing homes to the familes to help end disease and other health issues), we are still delivering a fake check so there can be a nice ceremony to honor their work and for us to help them. Then we will be doing some touring with them so we could see and learn some of their culture and ideals. After that we will help them work for a day and really get a feel for what they are doing and going through. Obviously they aren't building beach-front mansions like our company, they still need supplies and funds to keep going.

With the money we have given them, they will be able to afford a few nice community centers in a couple villages to provide some public bathroom facilities, kitchens, and a distribution center for supplies to meet the needs of the population. We firmly believe that by providing shelter and homes we can help to reduce some of the health problems and hopefully allow them to live a better style of life. We are also giving his company a few new trucks to be used in his business and we are in the process of obtaining and then shipping enough food to these community centers to feed the population of those three or four villages until years end. We are also working out a way for our company to "import" some the African company's workers on a temporary work program so they can make an American wage and return back to Africa with enough money to support their family for quite a long time. Matt and I have become great friends with this man and his company and we intend to continue helping as long as possible. Matt and I are helping him to run his company in a more efficient manner and provide equipment to help in the process. Although we can't make a huge impact like Live 8, Bono, and many others, we can certainly do our share to aid them. Matt and I both have been very blessed financially and we intend to pass that on.

So, I'll only be gone for a few days. I figured I would be gone longer, but since we intend to return in July this trip will be shorter. After this afternoon and possibly the early evening, I won't be on for a few days. Have a good one thumb.gif

Thanks for the welcome back. It was a great trip and we were greeted very nicely by the people there. I can't wait to return and I certainly can't wait to get the temporary work program started to allow them to come over here and work for true wages... Anyways, I'm back and I might explain the trip in more detail later on grnwink.gif
