Hey, I'm not sure if this was the right place to post this but, I've always been drawing, not always great at it, but I do draw, and only until recently I have decided to expand my usage of pencils. Yeah I usually use #2 and pens, but I wanted to know if anyone could tell me about the different pencils and their uses.

Ok, well 6B is the softest lead in most pencil cases. It's mostly used for shading and artists use it the most. Leads get harder as they progress. 5b, 4b, 3b, 2b, b. hb is most commonly used for writing because it has a hard lead, but is really visible. b, hb, and f are used for sketching usually. h, 2h, 3h... 4h, the hardest of leads in most pencil cases is really hard and durable but doesnt make dark marks. These are used a lot for technical stuff because they dont smudge very much and you can you them for a really long time.

I hope that helps! I like using 2b and 4b myself, but 4h is great for doing lots of sketches because I wear down pencils pretty fast!

yesss.. what he ^ said... I love drawing, I like using 2B if I want to do just draw and dont care if it's messy(get a dirty page). But most of the time I'll use 2H, or something low like that. B pencils are fun to work with, but they wear down sooo quickly!
